Mandatory labelling or labeling is the requirement of consumer products to state their ingredients or components. Moral purchasing and problems like allergies are two things which are enabled by labelling. It is mandated in most developed nations, and increasingly in developing nations, especially for food products. In India mandatory labelling/information should be strengthened. Consumer organizations should be encouraged to proactively various issues. We should create awareness regarding this issue among the consumers. |

Food safety is an essential public health issue for all countries. Foodborne diseases due to bacteria and chemical contaminants in food represent serious threats to the health of thousands of millions of people. Consumers, particularly in developing countries, are often exposed to willful adulteration of their food supply. This can lead to health hazards and to financial losses for the consumer. Although risks associated with adulteration are usually low, such episodes invoke public outrage and anger as it violates public trust in the integrity of the food supply. |
