It is very much important to make sure that the materials that are used for the construction are fire resistant, Since a major cause of home loss is the home's roof catching fire, consider using non-combustible or fire resistant roofing materials, such as Class A shingles, metal, slate or clay tile, cement and concrete products, or terra cotta tiles. Do not allow combustible materials and debris to accumulate within 20 feet of the home.

Fire Proofing is subject in it's enteirnity,
One must know that fire has burning flame can reach upto 2000 deg. C
Home to be fire proof can be built as thery are being done in gulf here are fire rated for 2 hrs or 1.5 hrs or 3 Hrs. to withstand fire . the fire should be contained within room with less supply of oxygen hwhich comes from door gap. hence fire rated doors having intumiscent seal on edges is an adopted option

yes using fire resistant construction materials is very very important as such you are minimizing the spread of fire incase if there are any. So choosing construction materials properly is a very good factor... So i agree with sumit here

I agree with the other suggestions given by our friends but by being aware of the local area fire history is very important so that you can plan your landscaping design accordingly. Also, consider the site location, overall terrain, prevailing winds, seasonal weather conditions, by which you can avoid fires affecting the construction..

Try to build homes on the most level portion of available land because the fires move up a slope faster than on level ground because the hot gases rise in front of them and preheat their path. Be careful about locating a home near any of the property's features that might channel the flow of wind. So according to me choosing the proper location is very important here.....
