According to me doing research on media is very important, like Providing strategic recommendations about how media theory and findings should direct media choices and planning decisions for individual brands and the company as a whole should be done first.......And then the main thrust is on working together with company research team to interpret research findings and apply the same for better media value. Analysis of specific channels, markets and media is undertaken from time to time and recommendations are fed into planning or buying process. So this goes as a very important factor, it is not that i don't agree with the other two ideas suggested, but Media research is a major factor for media planning..... |

Media Research it is!!. Unless there is a good team that does all kind of analysis based on the target customer, its business and its consumer - along with its future outlook, the areas where datapoints can be collated and re-utilized, the planning will not be successful. This of course should also include the past data from similar business/customer profiling.
This is such a huge area that there is no proper method or standard available that can streamline this aspect - which is also the reason why some of them have better ways of doing this and use that as their USP to rule the market.
Media research is very important for any type of media to under stand their customer like and dislikes.Even the customers choice and habits change regularly...so its very imm to do a media research to undersatnd the customer choice better.

Advertising is the most important factor in branding a product. But it also depends on the type of product u r trying to push in market. The most important factor in media planning is to first find out the correct media to reach out to ur target people, so that u wont end up spilling money everywhere . It can be various kinds of marketing campaigns that you want to do. A perfect media plan will not only save a lot of money but also gains u a lot of positive respose from your target group. And ofcourse like everyone said media research is also very important. |

Yes i totally agree with you Ms. Sravani, and most of the time it has to be proper branding and which is your target market, and which is the most suitable format for that, with all this data in place it is possible to tap a market base which will give higher yields and also better penetration for that matter.

This is very important guys, A periodical analysis on the target audiences should be done on a regular basis, media consumption habits is done regularly, like IRS updates, TV viewership trends based on which one can provide recommendations for change in brand media strategy or review buying decisions for that matter.
