India needs entrepreneur who would be able to convert idea in reality. There are large pool of Manpower available in our country. The requirement is to convert these manpower in to productive force for country. There is also requirement to fund idea at school, college & university stage. There are limited resource of funding for R & D research in our country in comparision to europian country. There will be requirement of commercialisation of endogenous Technology developed in R & D lab.

india is lacking the technology, and quality of labs
india is still behind poverty line, still it is developing.
in india private company or private organisations in research feild should be encouraged and in that company qualified indians should be given trained up and recurited
yes iam supporting this
Excellent idea Mr. Sudhir and mostly at the school level and college level this should be promoted, if promoted at that very young age there would be more number of people going for lifescience courses, as there is an imbalance in this regard where there are more no of engineers and doctors and others, and most of the entrepreneurs are not coming to the lifescience field and most of them are into other technology, Government should provide support in this regard to promote lifesciences more in the country,

Mr.Ajay i would also say that skilled manpower is the biggest advantage anyone can have and if we can make students aware about this industry and the scope it has then i have no doubt that our country will compete at the global level with the other nations in this industry like we are doing in IT and various other industries.
What do you say?
skilleds workers doing hard core research in human genetics , cancer iisues , bio informatics , biotech , botany .
discover something first patents will follow later is my piece of advice

India today has made a name for itself in the Global Scenario. We have sucessfully transformed our image due to our knowledge and skills. But today with the advent of Product Patent, it is imperative to substantially invest in R&D for serious drug discovery. Till date, we do not have even a single researched drug from any of the Pharmaceutical Companies. We have been involved in NDDS, process research etc. Discovering new drugs, is a time consuming process, and easily takes between 15 to 20 years to come out with a new drug. It is important that we shift our focus to R&D in order to become a top notch global Pharmaceutical Hub. |

India has the largest English speaking population, after the US . Science/Engineering stream in India produces more than 3 million graduates, 700,000 post graduates and 1500 PhDs every year, 15,000 scientists are engaged in the biotech sector, Manpower costs much lower in India vis-à-vis competing nations

Yes India has the most english speaking people than any other apart form US so this holds a great oppurtunity for India and its Students in this field for great future for them.

Clinical trials can be outsourced to India as the Indian population has similar genetic profile as US and European patients due to joint Aryan descent. Moreover low penetration of medical treatment in the country and the resulting speed of patient enrollment for trials is an advantage. So this will help in the long run |

This idea is really good as so many clinical trials happening in India, because there are so many drug molecules they are discovering and then both masked and unmasked clinical trials happening it is good the US and Indian have the same descent, so with this i guess more clinical trials will be outsourced to India.

Outside the US, India has the world’s highest number of FDA approvals . World-class facilities for generic manufacturing that comply with internationally harmonised standards such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and Good Clinical Practices (GCP) Well-recognised for low cost fermentation technology and generic biologicals .

i don't think so, just because US is closing the doors doesn't mean that there will be no opportunity, there are many 3rd world countries which needs drugs at a much cheaper price and these are the areas that Indian Biotech companies should focus on... |
yes karamjeet you are right on the button, Agriculture or crop biotechnology will help the farmers who are the back bone of the country to come up by having different strains of plants which are resistant to infection of micro organisms and also which... |
India is seeing an upward growth in the life sciences industry. It all started nearly a decade ago and now the industry is booming with Billions of dollars of revenue to its stream, but then it is lagging behing many other countries in this race... |
