The rules of investing money into technology is the same, but the more dependant on IT the more these rules apply. Study - 114 PBX (voip) solutions (link) Design - build a couple systems "out of the box" Develop - take the best system and add needed features and security Beta - test, test and retest Deploy - Now you are ready to deploy! on the other side you have to create a product profile and a product image.

Ted, I remember us working with asterisks and those cheap voice modems. No doubt VoIP has come a ways since then. There is no doubt it will replace POTS line entirely some day soon and already has in many businesses around the world. There are already a number of out of the box solutions but it may not be to late to get into the market.

even if network is prepared for this VOIP the Security is the main concern, because VoIP is delivered via the IP network using IP standards, it is subject to the same security vulnerabilities as the rest of business which have IP-based systems, such as servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and databases. There is a need of comprehensive security policy and that should exist to address the security needs of VoIP. So one should have security as a priority before investing in VOIP..

According to me With VoIP, networks have the responsibility of moving voice, in addition to traditional data and video traffic. Voice streams are much more sensitive to network congestion than data, so it’s important to make sure the network has sufficient throughput to handle the added activity, so network should be prepared to handle all these..
