In many cases contractors find that their sub contractors are not
efficient & lack proper training & professionalism. Without
proper training a sub contractor is unable to deliver his task as
desired by the main contractor. Thus, the main contractor's problem
gets added up. |

I agreed with you, but the actual problem is that:
Principle contractor not willing to pay better rates to sub/petty contractor. They trying to pay as low, compare to market rates.

The sub contractor is an agency which handles break down activities.The breakdown activities are scheduled to complete on time as the completion of projects depend on these activities.To complete the project on time ,it is important that sub contractor's credentials are verified before entrusting any work whether supplies or execution. |

The decision of hiring the sub contractor is very crucial as it will depend the physical progress or each mile stone leading to completion of project on time.So please examine his credentials carefully.The other things are secondary.

Before selecting subcontractors, main contractor should check their credentials, ability and strength. The subcontractors should obey the contract in professionally. All the main contractor plans, methods should follow sub contractor also. these all will ensure when the subcontractor having commitment to work whatever may be situation would face. |

Most of the time its not possible, since we are running every project with less manpower and limited time frames.

This is the most common situation any main contractor would have faced. Sub contractors in the urge of getting the project would fake their financial condition & display overrated assets. Thus they get the portion of the work from the main contarctor but in long run it becomes a major burden for the main contractor. |

"The decision of hiring the sub contractor is important,but the main contractor have to provide a market rate as per item basis,bcoz if the credential is good,but the rate is not upto the mark automatically the quality of work is questioned and main contractor have to support the sub contractor by giving timely payment if the payment is delayed work will be affected automatically the main contractor will be imposed to get penalties

As we know in Civil construction projects there are several subcontractors for the project to finish on time as per project planned program.Its very much proactiveness, experience, decision making and when to call subcontractors for execution at site and how to extract the contractual things within prescribed time frame.This will be get it done by PROJECT MANAGER OF the construction firm/Main contractor as some time subcontractors would not have sufficient manpower, tools and even representative of subcontractor will not cooperative. So its GREAT TASK in construction to deal subcontractors. |

Selecting the Sub-contractor is a very important role to success the project. Many Indian big Organisations are selecting the sub-contractors is only based recommendations or local influence.
I suggest to select based on thier contractor profile and should provide better price and should release the monthly payments intime.

If an employees basic needs have been taken care, the efficiency of an employee is also been ensured. In continuation, i feel, Now a days the accommodation & their needs to be taken care. Most of the construction labour sheds are not in Livable condition.

Sub-contractors, by and large, do not conform to any statutory obligations, forcing the main contractors to face the music. One has to be very careful in monitoring the project for cost and time over-runs! If unattended, the project will be counter-productive!
