There is an old saying that hanging a sign on a cow that says "I am a horse" does not make it a horse. There is a real danger that Agile Manufacturing will fall prey to the unfortunate tendency in manufacturing circles to follow fashion and to relabel everything with a new fashionable label. The dangers in this are two fold. First, it will give Agile Manufacturing a bad reputation. |

Dear all I read all coment what i belive if we don`t have sufficent amount of knowledge or information we should not mark any thing like mridula "managment take superficial woking patteren none of any efficent mamangment work like this " .
I really don't have any idea about 'Agile Manufacturing'.
Please explain it.
Dear mridula,
I liked your opinion but your statement that management will acquire only superficial understanding is not acceptable.
Without depth knowledge if any management approves such strategic change then those are incapable management.
Such management will collapse any time.

Very true Mridula...I agree with you. One of the important things that is likely to hold us back from making a quantum leap forward and exploring this new frontier of Agile Manufacturing, is the baggage of our traditions, conventions and our accepted values and beliefs. A key success factor is, without any doubt, the ability to master both the soft and hard issues in change management. |

I dont know why everybody is seeing 100 % future in agile manufacturing? What is our(India's) core strength. Its not segment specific product. India is driven by volume. We have to successful model like Hero Honda Bike & Maruti 800 & Alto Car. How many nation has such crown? Taste of India is changing. Middle & Upper middle class base is increasing per year. But what is the %age of middle & upper middle class? Poor are also coming to middle class.
My suggestion would be Current manucaturing with Agile lines for vulume driven sector like automobile. For other sectors Agile manufacturing should be implemented on priority. |

There is no point in introducing Agile techniques to a product that is being mass produced and continously supplied into the market. Such products require a rather lean approach.
Products that are, however, of much lower volumes, high costs, with low shelf life if not no shelf life require agile manufacturing.
Applying agile manufacturing to wrong product type will end up in losses for the company. I believe all of us know this. But its basics that count nevertheless.
