I think this is the most widely used method for recruiting in today's companies. The Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is a software application designed to help enterprises in recruiting employees more efficiently. An ATS can be used to post job openings on a corporate Web site or job board, screen resumes, and generate interview requests to potential candidates by e-mail. It is similar to customer relationship management systems, but are designed for recruitment tracking purposes.

As per my view,ATS is more popular than others because it:

1.can be implemented enterprise(like a functional addition to HRIS) or small business level

2 is similar to CRM system

3.is not limited to data mining & collection.Attached with it the ability to automate the recruitment process via a well defined wokflow

ATS is useful for managing the recruitments cycle which comprises of sharing demands with agency partners, candidates status in the interview process.number of candidates in the pipeline .The data extracted from ATS can be used to take a lot decision for recruitment strategies.

cbiz is msty used in american companies. but for sourcing good profiles jigsaw and spoke can be used ecffectively
