The emergence of women entrepreneurs and their contribution to the national economy is quite visible in India. The number of women entrepreneurs has grown over a period of time. Women entrepreneurs need to be lauded for their increased utilization of modern technology, increased investments, finding a niche and creating a sizable employment for others and setting the trend for other women entrepreneurs in the organized sector.

While women entrepreneurs have demonstrated their potential, the fact remains that they are capable of contributing much more than what they already are. In order to harness their potential and for their continued growth and development, it is necessary to formulate appropriate strategies for stimulating, supporting and sustaining their efforts in this direction. Such a strategy needs to be in congruence with field realities, and should especially take cognizance of the problems women entrepreneurs face within the current system.  But, what are the problems faced by Women entrepreneurs in India??

Indian society is patriarchal

idea posted by Anamika Roy Freelancer, IT Services

he greatest deterrent to women entrepreneurs is that they are women. Indian society is patriarchal and Indian women are traditionally considered to be homemakers and not 'businesswomen.' This is the biggest deterrent still for most of the Women entrepreneurs who wants to make it big on their own and also create employment for others..

Anamika you have hit the bulls eye with your point of view. Practically nothing more to add.

Very correctly said, Ms. Anaamika.

But just remember one hindi phrase/ muhawara ,' Hati jab chalta hai to kutte

............ ya unko taklif to hoti hai, par usse hathi ke chaal mein koi pharak

nahi padata'.

Whatever you do, do it correctly & by heart, which women does & one day all

are noticed about your achievement & most of your dear one & near ones will

be with you to help you in your business.

1 st lady Doctor - Dr. Anandi Joshi faced a lot of problems at that time but she

become the first lady Dr.after fighting against the all odds.

INADEQUATE SUPPORT FROM FAMILY

idea posted by s.baalu Consultant, XYZ LTD

Inadequate support from their own families contribute to discourage them.Wherever required level of support from their own families have come women have succeeded more than the expectations of others.

I do agree with you, family support is more then any other support, may be others  may disagree but if ur family support you in any of the situation it matters alot for women to fight with every situation good or bad.....

nice  debate

thanks varsha

Social insecurity & separation

idea posted by KALIYAMOORTHY Oil & Gas Area Coordinator, Undisclosed

Openly saying it, there is none to ask a man who comes at 1200 pm or later in night. Whereas, the same can not be done by women. An insecure social environment precludes from working at night alone & engage in work. Even attending to conference at various distant point becomes tedious & insecure. An incident can be recalled a woman director(GM, BSNL , I think) found dead near Swimming pool in Star hotel at Bombay. She was from Chennai.

A culture that we have, to keep women away from man as much as possible is an another obstacle to surmount problem solving method.

Nothing remains a man's domain in the world and women are increasingly assuming greater responsibilities. They have also proved to be very good and successful entrepreneurs

In our country people still think that women are meant to sit at home, rear children, cook, and do all house keeping jobs. it is this factor that has to chance.

Everyone tries to under-estimate women

From ages together, capabilities & capacities of women of India are being under-estimated or under-rated, so this is the most hectic problem faced by the women entrepreneurs in India.

Contrarily, she has marvelous capabilities if tried to be developed in entrepreneurship.

Irrespective of woman's role in family and society and whether they are patriarchal or support it is the shear need that brings in women to fore of this world in entrepreneurship. Women are more motivated by a need or a cause

in my opinion women r also contributing equally and its just about how u think every organization is having women in their top management level and if u talk about the entrepreneurs yes this field is not having much women but that is due to the fact they really dont want to get into it otherwise the field is wide open without any barrier. and in my opinion there r more problems in the corporate sector if u compare it with the above.well nice topic to debate on.
