It is a general practice by our builders to conver the Agricultural land to non agricultural so as to develop the areas but in that process they forget that they are destroying a huge amount of water reserves available underground and the land which is capable to store large water reserves. If the made policies are tightened it may help to solve some of the problem. |

The way the real estate is progressing the ground water storage will be reducing year by year as more and more areas are covered with flats and the balance areas are covered with pavements by the real estaters, thery by the percolation of water in to ground is reduced ,hense the ground water collection. The projects should be planned in such a way that there should be enough percolation of water in to ground by way of constuction storm water ponds, and plantations etc. instead of paving almost all the areas.also rain harvesting should be encouraged
Exactly true....

Friends, I think India cannot have a secure water future unless there are drastic changes in the way the state functions. Past attention to infrastructure development has to be complemented with present attention to water resource and infrastructure management. And, policies and practices have to come to grips with the challenges of the future. The state has to define water entitlements at all levels, improve the quality and quantity of data and make these data available to the public, and has to stimulate the formation of user groups at all levels like the river basin, the aquifer, and the irrigation district. |

We could observe that suddenly there are floods within 5-6 months we say there is no water. Co-ordinated effort by Local bodies, between states, central Govt etc should be there to study and recommend for water storage , supplyetc., Since monsoon starts from june necessary measures should be ensured from Jan I.e., maintainanance of supply channels, ponds, Desiltation, cleaning of weeds, Strengthening of bunds, apart from long term measures. Water is solution for so many problems ( Global warming, raising food prices, food shortage , running of rural economy, power production what not everything ) certainly we are not paying required attention. Let us manage water better way. |

According to me, India needs a lot more water infrastructure. Compared to other countries, India can store relatively small quantities of its fickle rainfall. New infrastructure needs to be built especially in underserved areas such as the water-rich northeast of the country where investments can transform water from a curse to a blessing. The country needs to invest in water infrastructure at all levels, from large multipurpose water projects to small community watershed management and rainwater harvesting projects. |

we have to change or modified the the rules about water storage system.every developer builder has to be oppinted plumbing consultant who design such system that recycle the water. awarness in the entire construction industry is important, most of the water is used in this industry, every people in india who built a house has to be submited the plumbing design in perticuler corpation or nagarpalika, which indicate the water consumption of the family .Awarness design of plumbing, seriousness of the water for next genaration. |

The immediate solution is to identify space and contractors for rain water harvesting and supply to a set of population. That may be for around 10000 to 25000 householders. The dams ponds and dykes should be created to store rain water. The Treated sewage should not be let into rivers nalaha etc. The provision should be made to store sewage water separetly and treated to use for irrigation. Reverse osmosis process and and water evaporation plants should be installed all around the Indian sea shores and water supplied to cities like Bombay, Madras and calcutta initially and than supplied all over India as botteled water. All cold drink plant should be on sea shore and use sea water after treatment and removing salt.Power generation plants can also be started on se ashore [Gas based] so that the sea water could be used after due treatment in boilers and cooling system .Thus heat generated could also be used to create surplus potable water which could be used for making botteled product mix |

In Urban areas, it is lack of maintenance and knowledge about machinery. Corruption in Govt funded WSS are also to blame. We see for example, some govt. buying pumps for water supply with motor drives for installation at places where there is almost no electricity. In the remote areas of India, I do not think that we have an effective SYSTEM for water supply and management. The question is redundant therefore. |

In Future iam sure that india will face problems on water supply, this is because of the government not taking serious steps on this.the rain water on the road side are wastely get collected on the sewage line,it should be properly collected in a separate collection pipe then after that it should be treated and can able to use the water for domestic purpose.but now a days all the rain water go through with sewage water and due to im proper drainage system the sewage water get overflow and comes out on the road side then mix with the rain water.so the government should give an proper drainage system and separate pipe for collection of rain water |
