The global markets remained a bit jittery last week and they triggered some volatility in the domestic markets as well. The global markets were triggered by under-performances from some large global companies and a rise in the US jobless claims. However, analysts are watching the second quarter economic growth data from Europe. |

You have chosen a an area, demanding an in-depth analysis, as condition vary depending on the type and the country of investment. In the current emerging markets, India plays, second-fiddle to China. Considering its size in population and growth, India offers many opportunities. Aiming for an annual economic growth 10% to double its economy, in less than ten years and (as Hindustan Times says) to be as big as China, in 16 years; very promising indeed. Statistics are fine, but one must not be misled by these. One view is to use a valuation of a company’s current stock price compared with its full-year earnings per share. This allows investors to compare companies of different sizes and in different sectors along the same investment playing field. While PE ratios for stocks have an industry norm say for instance, biotech start-ups have high PE ratios because they have not yet won approval for a drug and are therefore, not making much money yet. This measure is helpful, as a rule of thumb to tell you how expensive or cheap, a stock is.
I recall an interesting article in Business standard which said that While, it is easy to quote investment experts, their advice seldom works for retail investors. Wisdom, it said, comes out of experience. There are no thumb rules. Common Sense on Mutual Funds’ has argued that over time, index funds will always outperform actively-managed mutual funds. Agrred.... The food inflation rate shot up to 11.4 percent for the week ended July 31. The rise in the prices of cereals, milk and fruits resulted in this rise. However, analysts are waiting for the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation data to be announced next week. The non-food inflation is on the rise which is an area of concern for policymakers. So, one need to have knowledge about all this.. |

The main concern of the investors is the political stability of the country where they are investing and also whether the government/party in power will be able to protect the interests of the investors |

There are so many areas/factors which can make their impact on investment. Here we consider both internal and external factors. However, Indian market out-performing these days as comparison to global markets. Inflation, CRR etc. were unable to affect the market performance. We have already seen rally in Pharma, Banking, IT & Auto sector. But still there are many sector who didn't perform well in market. i.e. Power, Infra, Telecom etc etc.. So according to my view, there is not a single factor which will help retail investor to invest in right stock at right time. Proper self analysis is required to get handsome return on their investment. It includes internal factors, external factors, sectors and at last the company related to aforesaid sector.. |
