As we all know in any kind of work environment, the better skills an employee has, the more he is successful. Skills are essential if we want to achieve our goals– they help keep us focussed on doing the right tasks. As the world is just out from recession and today we are seeing requirements from companies which we will hardly find, as one requires employees who have skill on various domains, gone are the days when an employee was handling only one sort of work, now the skills criteria is widened and the future workplace will look altogether different from now what it is. Thats why I would like to know from users in this platform, what are the skills necessary for the future of employment?

Demonstrating Positive Attitudes

idea posted by Darshana Sawant HR Manager, Leading IT services company

Its good for an employee to feel good about himself and to be confident dynamics of that group. He should deal with people, problems and ensure that a team’s purpose and situations with honesty, integrity and objectives are clear personal ethics. He should be flexible and respect, should be open to all and recognise his own and other people’s supportive of the thoughts, opinions good efforts and contributions of others in a group and should show interest, initiative and effort.

I Completely agree with you Darshana, as the things are changing rapidly, so in the fast pace of working environment, the most important skill required by any organization is positive attitude, Everybody know there are problems, in personal as well as professional, but we need to understand & solve the issue with our strong mind set up of positive environment. I belief in coming arena, most of organization, will focus on attitute, because for any organization, Knowledge, competency skill & behavioural attititude is utmost matter in any employees. We can develop knowledge base, competency skill, hard to generate attitude.

It's only "ATTITUDE" that generates 100% output in each & every field....

ATTITUDE=1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5=100 ,Where A=1,T=20 ....

Work only if you feel passionate about it

idea posted by Praveen Nair MBA/PGDM student, GISMA BusinessSchool

If you love your work, you can never be bad at it. Though it sounds simple, I am always amazed at how many people I meet who think they are stuck in the wrong job. So keep looking. Be foolish enough to love your job. It pays and pays well.

no doubt about it , passion does wonders for the employee and the company as well. People seldom realize what all they were capable of and companies do realize what an jewel they have .

Praveen I agree with you.there is only one thing which can project any person to other.if you are doing right work every one think you have right attitude ,you are honest etc.So it is very important of us what ever you do try to be on the top. obviously your work will give excellent when you are doing job of your interest. But over all develop interest    and try to be excel  on what ever work comes to you to perform.

Wear multiple hats.

idea posted by Amit N Bhagwat Recruitment Executive, First Tek Pvt. Ltd.

Wear multiple hats. Resource must be a good team player, should be able to lead from front, technically he should have "high in demand" skills on his resume, for instance it is easy to find .Net developer with 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 yrs exp, but it is difficult to find some one Infragistics exp or somebody who has used Db2 database or someone who has used TIBCO.

Hi folks!!!

As, We  are in an era of Glocalisation and the rate & pace with which all the Business & economies of world are changing ,the demand for multi-skilled employees is growing by leaps & bounds.

So, In order to cope up with the future employment  an employee should posses multifarious skills viz. (Decision making skills, Interpersonal skills,Soft skills(EQ),motivational skills) etcetera- etcetera..

Additionally  S/he should be creative(out of the box) and innovative in his /her idea generations and should be passionate about his/her work.

S/he should always try be a proactive learner with flair of adopting to emerging trends and industrial requirement.

In nutshell, we can say that an employee who is Jack of all trades can  effectively do cross functioning  with the other department of the org.

strategic business results with innovation

idea posted by kshantaram GM-hrd/hr professor

to me it appears with globalisation and competitive pressures employers are now able to focus more on result orientedness and business sense with ability to deliver fast track results while being innovative and street smart in this competitive world.

seems the age of longterm employment, family values, loyalty, etc have much lesser space although one expects to be an effective team member and ability to learn and be adaptable - leading to attempt achieve the buck fast on both the part of the employer and the employee leading to faster employee turnover while learning to live with and manage the same with focus on fast mutual growth and rewards and results. thus the business environment has become quite complex.

hope this enables reflect further,

regards/kshantaram

skills to match roles and responsibility

idea posted by Anand P Project Manager, Centillium India

It's more important that the skills one has matches the role and responsibility that he/she plays. It's a misconception that skills required is widening or one has to gather more diverge skills to be more successful.

As one grows in their career over the years, roles and responsibilities change. Along with that one has to augment his skills to suit his role and reponsibility. In this context, it becomes an important part for HR to ensure that the right people are promoted, and promoted only after ensuring that they have developed the skills required to perform effectively in the next role.

A mismatch between skills and the role one plays creats friction and degrades performance of not just the individual, but of the entire team.

For example, skills required to be in individual contributor would be depth of knowledge in subject, good problem solving or debugging skills, etc. For a lead, one has to have good people management skills, effective tracking of tasks, critical problem handling skills, etc.
