I think foreinsic accountant should mainly have the ability to review a large volume of documentation ranging form the more usual accounting records and management information systems to memos, correspondence to extract the key issues quickly. He should be quick and accurate in checking out the data's. |

Ability to calculate, Simpleficateionm of accounting rules and procedure, ability to examine & cross examine, Grasping capacity are also the skills required for foreinsic accountant. Now a days many organisation follow complicated account procedure. The account procedure shoud be simple and precise. |

Apart from what Reshmi has said i believe forensic accountant should also have ability to communicate complex theoretical ideas in a manner which is readily understandable to a person supporting with facts and figures when necessary without giving an impression of superiority. He should be able to understand it completely |

I think no special skill needed for a genuine professional. Its only application of certain parameters which he studies which will give a single before major fraud. Blind race for wealth & expanding without proper infrastructure particularly in the field of human resources & automation are the main culprit for such huge negligence. Parag Kachhy |

Forensic accountants detect and interpret the evidences of both normal and abnormal phenomena introduced into an accounting system (expansively defined) and the resultant effect upon the accounts, inventories, and the presentation thereof. It is imperative, therefore, that forensic accountants first understand what is normal, since even extremely high value abnormalities are introduced by such simple mechanisms as improper account classification or the presentation policy of routine transactions. Forensic accountants are accountants first who often have to give expert evidence at the eventual trial. Forensic accountants utilize an understanding of business information and financial reporting systems, accounting and auditing standards and procedures, evidence gathering and investigative techniques, and litigation processes and procedures to perform their work.

A forensic accountant should have the ability to corelate the circumstanses and the documents pertaining to a transaction. This requires an investigation skill with abundant knowledge in accounting. He will be able to tell the entire story from these records where ever there is a fraud and he should use the records as evidence in subsequent litigation. |
