What Next? The Role of Goverment & Conclusion

Government should respect and support knowledge. Governemnt should take the necessary steps to inculcate in the minds of the people that knowledge is recognised and rewarded. The people who have all the passion for hardwork are leaving us and working in organisations in abroad and many are successful scientists in the course. As such, the only way to improve our R & D is through giving top respect and recognition for the knoledgeble. |

Yes, I also support the view of Mr. Durga rao. Researchers normally opt for other countries because they don't get so much scope, facilities, recognition, support and respect from Indian side which they get in other countries. Once they get that, they won't leave India and do their R&D here only, which will help R & D sector in India boom...
I support this idea. The qualified people should be given the proper recognition and respect. Then only they will come with good ideas and schemes in the R & D departments.
Well Said Mr. Durga ,
I should apologize in this case , your statements in a way and in terms of support are really making sense. I dont just say this .. these are statements after saying what i had to say and thought about and made this statements. For me it make a lot of sense in the following thought line.
a research is any work done for good nad betterment of Humankind , well we do have governments to administer the same ..so the definite link however invisible at the moment will definitely have to manifest into more higher standards in future if govt needs to maintain more than 1.61% deflation rates as of today. Well , yada raja thada praja! ...
So in your case , i support this idea..well said ..and applause to you ( sorry toostep doesnot have a applause symbol!)
Regards
Krishna

I have found out something which can revolutionise healthcare delivery. Every human being after the age of 35 will get to benefit out of this. All I have been asking for in our scientific establishments is to accept my project as a regular research project. This can be polished through a 3/5/7 year research grind in mainstream research. I will submit my thesis in the normal course which can be vetted as per procedure by one Indian scholar and one International scholar. I can be allotted a research guide. Before acceptance, I am requesting for a panel of experts to evaluate whether my discovery is suitable for further research. I will demonstrate before the panel. Since I am not from science/medicine background, my request is not yet accepted. Why should this be so? If such entry barriers are imposed, how could R&D improve? |

I undersatnd your predicament and wish you Godspeed in answering of your prayer ...
(I am also going through samilar situation for a long time now !)
I have conveyed a lot in my earlier response. Only a little about Newton, Einstein and Ramanujam that I would like to touch upon.
I am not comparing myself to be like them....They are great scientists and the entire world has acknowledged.
Look at how I feel... The life span expectation in India is a little less than 70 years. It is more in most of the other places.
Beyond 35, many persons can not sit/squat on the ground or walk comfortably. Their vision comes down and they start wearing a glass. They may get bouts of migraine. Their sex drive may come down. They are not comfortable with certain foods, which may upset their digestion pattern. They may gradually become obese.
On the serious side, their blood pressure may be high/low. Their liver, heart, kidney functions may not be up to the mark. They may not be comfortable at the joints. They may injure themselves and may get to be treated.
My research can influence all the above. It may be audacious but I can make life of every human being more tolerable for almost 50% of his life span. I am not advocating any spiritual power that I have, nor any prayer or devotion nor am I telling them that they should take some medicines etc.
Any responsible policy maker has to sit straight and ponder whether he has considered his position in government/academia seriously enough, when such a claim is unanswered for almost three years.
I already have my results. Why I am asking for recognition of my project as a regular research project is only to validate my results. IP protection is also a factor. I am willing to go through the grind of a 3-5 year research.
What has government/academia got to lose, if they say that my research project is part of the regular stream and that I should submit my thesis which will be evaluated as per standard procedure? They may need to allot to me a research guide and allow me to utilize equipments available in a research institution. Is this so big a burden on the government/academia when I have dedicated my life to make life of millions better?
I do not consider myself no less a scientist of the highest calibre. Till I get the recognition I deserve, I would silently continue what I have been doing. My first effort to approach government/academia was almost three years before. What I have announced in my representation on that day has been reformed and broght to a better shape as on today. I have added more value and am more confident today.
But it is the society which is at loss. It is for the society to take notice and help themselves!!
I know my delivery model can work. I have got results and can reproduce them. However, my treatment is non invasive and involves no drug use. We need special type of equipment to record changes in the body which I can explain before a panel of experts. The recording through equipments is proof. The concept is original and extends to many branches of medicare.
There have to be around 200 patents to be filed. It becomes a big game. I have to enlist a government organisation to participate, which will make things easy. I am not looking for sponsorship. My research I can conduct without sponsorship. I just need to make use of equipments available in a place like Hosmat, Sports Authority of India, Manipal Hospital, Wockheardt etc. (Pardon me if I am using names of Bangalore based hospital).
Another crucial factor is that I need patients to come to me. Unless I am accepted in a place where patients are available, it becomes difficult.
I will not give up. No way. However, what you have cautioned me with is a real danger. Others may catch up.
I am a project finance consultant myself. I have dealt with VCs for other clients. I am yet to reach a VC who may be suitable and interested in this area of research. My entire implementation roadmap is defined. We need to take the first step keeping an eye on ip rights. This is what I am waiting for.
Thanks for the suggestion and good wishes

One of the key problems that the indian industries face in R&D is the hirarchical superiors doesn't allow them to think too much... There is so much potential in every industry. I keep noticing them around.. but the point is that all are so much into this era of competition that not many people are able to think out of box and come out with fruitful results, beneficial for all around the globe. When the pressure of projects, market trends, competition are set aside, it will give a lot of room to think and re-think and hence come out with new researches. |

There is a lot that can be said about r & d. But through strategic planning, innovation, qualitative methods/ research & implementation. Qualitative methods are used to provide a base for quantitative research and help in quantitative research design development. A certain level of innovation/ free thought is a key component in the strategy for improving r & d productivity and competitiveness.
R&D faces unique challenges and opportunities. In a fast-changing environment having open innovation & freedom of thought, sharing & cohesive collaboration can be beneficial in r & d which helps in creating a new way of bringing good ideas to market. Companies must now learn to embrace the breadth of knowledge that is available from various pools of knowledge that are throughout the organization & outside. With open innovation/ freedom of thought, valuable ideas can come from inside or outside the company and can go to market from inside or outside the company as well.
This approach places external ideas and external paths to market on the same level of importance as that reserved for internal ideas and paths to market .

In present situation it is necessary to take initiative by the Individuals and corporates..................Individual with the help of corporates.........this is time to invest not to worry about results..........I think this is the only way.... |

Thank you Mr.Durga Rao, After working in R & Ds i have to come to the following observation , none of the R & D are full and complete. Well yes i observed another set of R & D like max planck , Fraunhofer institute etc.. The R & D has the following in true implementation of Sri. Rabindranath Tagores saying about mind and activity.Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high ya , Let my country awake , be / can change to let my innovation awake. Also see what the great phsysicist say about Research: If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it? --Albert Einstein. So important is mind set of person in the research , not necessarily the aptitude the person , but the attitude the person has! |

Our country & Government has earmarked only 5-7 % in R&D budget against that of > 20 % in/of USA ... No wonder US produces more Nobel Laureates than India despite India having higher population % of great / bright minds of the level of Nobel laureates ! Our defense and other budgetary allocations take the priority due to strategic considerations and allocation of budget for grass root primary education and provision / maintenance of facilities is ill-conceived and poorly handled / managed by bureaucrats; My experience says that education policy makers are also short - sighted and many times suffer from myopic / distorted vision, which is not conducive for equanimous or equal vision - oriented growth decisions in our caste / community fractured social base ! The corporate sector has also to widen its social responsibility and committment towards R & D efforts ... All these stake holders have to perform their role and duty/responsibilities religiously and sincerely towards world - class R&D efforts and provide the necessary impetus in terms of motivation, support and encouragement to really bright and talented minds irrespective of caste/community considerations and then only Indian story will change ... I know quite many a instance, where bright talent has not flourished / come up and grown due to above circumstances/reasons and many has suffered hardships and struggled for rocognition (like Ramanujan) and many have left India for USA ... Therefore, like Tagore's poem 'When the mind is without fear ................', let all these stake holders awake and wake up into that 'heaven of freedom' ! |

A noble profession like being a scientist - researcher needs to be given a double dose of boost! That is indeed one profession that never receives any accolades except for some Padmashree or something that too after the person ceases to exist or is grown so old that you may never know he existed and was responsible! I agree to a large extent with what Mr. Bagla has suggested. In the process of education itself the curriculum of being a researcher needs to be highlighted!! |

i agree with the views of Mr Makarand.Researches should be highlighted as applivation.

Its not that research and development field is less in India,If we see journals (both international and national) we will get Indian researches are more deep with great results.I have the experience is that all these researches and their results just reside in the journals to increase the careeristic background of a scientist in all government institutions. Only researches held in corporate sectors come out with great applicable results. So,if all government institutes start application of these researches than automatically it will boost up our nation in the field of research and development. |

I think INDIAN mindset is that RnD jobs are made for the people who didnt got placed into relatively highly paid industries. Even professors as well prefer his students going to some industry rather than motivating them towards research. In my view Teachers has to be more responsible to ignite the student mind with showing him the clear growth path for the same |

For r&d to take off the government should provided a competitive environment for companies to exist with threat of extinction if they don't compete. Academia must be strengthened to produce graduates who can innovate. Companies need spend more for r&d. Companies must work to improve Stock Holder's value. |

Wh a t ' s n e x t ?
We are seeing the sign of the success of R&D in
India spilling over to the creative industry in the
country as more and more foreign clients are either
outsourcing their creative and design works to the
Indian companies or setting up their centres in the
count r y. Recent l y India based media and
adver t ising companies have created adver t ising
materials for consumer good like Arial (consumer
product ) , Cobra Beer, Peugeot and others. This
trend is likely to continue.
Although the R&D movement in India is in its early
stages, the experts predict that the country has the
potential to grow into a global R&D powerhouse.
The next big technological innovations could come
from India.
