In business today, any project is ultimately measured by one thing and that is return on investment or ROI. There are dozens of things  to be measured along the way—from budget and deadline to scope and stakeholder satisfaction, but then at the end of the day, ROI is all about what we are taking. So to do this one needs a business analysis and effectively infuse them all the way throughout the project,  So what are those steps to infuse business analysis into a project. What are your views on this

Increased use of Agile

idea posted by Bipin Ghosh Sales/BD Manager, Infosys
I agree with ramdass that PM and BA convergence, but then another trend that is taking place is that there will be an increase in the Agile approach, Integrating Agile methods  business analysis is a trend that is going to continue in the future also a. Agile itself is evolving to the needs of the industry.  Another trend that we've noticed is Agile  incorporating traditional techniques like requirements workshops and more documentation. Hope this helps.

Agile does some level of work on integration of data, however, the technologies on IDASM developed with the help of a regional institute in India far outpaces what organizations such as Agile, oracle or SAS can provide. Dr. Parag Deshpande is a pioneer in the technology. You can contact him at parag@idasm.net. A book in the area of multidimensional analytics has also been written that completes 3 month long projects in no more than 6 hours. Seems unbelievable? Believe it.

Integrated Analysis Systems

The latest trend is toward the Integrated Data Analysis and Simulation Module or the IDASM. It has an oracle backend and Java frontend. It combines, datawarehousing, strategic data analysis, business intelligence reports, GUI flexibility, system interlinking, modularity, data mining, statistical mining and simulation. It is considered to be one of the top business idea in strategic management today.

PM and BA convergence

As the economy which has tightened it's screws due to the crisis, organizations will try decrease their project budgets. But, they still need projects to be  done, so organizations will try and combine the role of the BA and PM on projects. And one feels that the PM and BA roles will be combined on many projects in the future. Project managers will be asked to do more requirements elicitation and analysis, whereas Business analysts will be required to manage more projects.
So this is the one such trend that is taking shape for the future.

what are the other trends happening??
