when one has spent so many hours and days developing one's website for business purposes and you are proud of sharing it with your customers, what you see is someone stealing your content and it is damaging where they are stealing your software code, your copyrighted online content is very valuable and must be protected. So what are the steps to protect online content??

Start with Basics

According to me Stealing online content can be as easy as dragging and dropping highlighted text or images from one's Web site onto the other desktop, so make it hard. like

1. Protect your images by using low-resolution copies on your Web site that will become distorted if used elsewhere and also embed watermarks that can’t be removed.

2. Convert downloadable files into PDF so that text can’t be easily copied or changed.

3. Embed HTML code that protects your source code and disable the ability for users to right-click and copy or save text from your Web page.

Protective Software

i agree with dipen with what he has suggested but then one needs to have a protective software, just displaying a copyright notice is another important basic step but it doesn’t protect your content until it’s already stolen. it doesn't even scare them.. to Keep your intellectual property safe by installing protective software that will keep it out of the wrong hands. Have locklizard which Protects your PDF documents, Web content, and software from unauthorized use, copying, printing, and distribution and Aladdin which Combats software piracy with copy protection and secure licensing. Hope this helps all

This is as simple as it gets, where you are  periodically checking  your competitors Web sites to see if they have  borrowed your copyrighted content without permission. Conduct a search on Copyscape, a free, easy-to-use service that searches the Web using your Web site URL and finds every Web site that uses your content, whether it’s illegally copied or simply quoted. this is very easy to find out those who are copying you.
