When ever we get a job we have certain assumptions in our......may be a good place..good evnvironment, good people, etc..... But a times we geta setback when we confront the reality which is really very painfulll....

So, what are things we should never assume at workplace??

Most organizations are loyal to ther profit margin and not to their employees. Never assume that an organization is loyal to you. You need to prove yourself every step of the way.

It will too naive to think that a company can be loyal to an employee.A company could be employee friendly or have good pro employee policies but that should not be understood as 'loyalty '. The best thing for an employee would be to work hard with full sincerity and not to get emotionally involved . It is just like having an one way love affair which can end anytime without any reason or notice.

Very True Mr. Ramesh. "Love your job, not your company" or the management - should be the moto. Bright performers for years might be overlooked for promotions or sacked for poor performance in just one year. If you follow the above moto you would not have any grudge or resentment towards the company. It would also be easier to leave the company for another in such an event.

Although you may find friends at work, it's very important to draw boundaries. Unlike friendships or romances gone awry, you have no choice but to see your co-workers every single workday. Thus...be on your guard and watch your back every now n then. Bcoz u may never know when you will get betrayed in the name of competition....

Yes Renne & Shirpa, True. Never make the mistake of thinking that your colleagues are your friends. Accept the fact that they are and will remain only as acquaintance, even after years of being together. Each is up to get a better life – and ones career plays an important role in this, hence there is bound to be back stabbing.

So be very guarded in what you talk. Better to keep distance.

As some people say, “Trust, but always watch your back”.

At workplace nobody is ur frnd everybody acts like a professinal worker so we also donot assume that employees are my frnds bcoz once we face the truth , we can't control our emotions but we have to contol them and face each and everybody everyday

people often try to prove their point. In the course of doing so they sometimes tell their bosses on their face that they dont know anything. Which may not be true in all the cases and people dont know how to say it many times. Also, there are a few over confident and over smart employees who can not accept criticism or who do not believe in learning ... which makes things really frustrating for the bosses!

One should not think that his/her boss reads his/her mind. It is always better to be open to say comments which you feel might not hurt the organization or your boss than presuming that your boss can read you. This also holds good when you think you have done your part of job and require a hike. These things are to be put open than presuming your boss will read your mind and do the needful.

Exactly.......because if you assume something and try to plan accordingly, then in that case if your assumption become wrong; you will get hurted and you will not be able to perform well. So better do not assume anything beforehand just do your work with full efficiency & honesty. Everything will automatically fall at its place.

Rather than trying to be as good as the next competitor, by offering the same types of workplace programs and initiatives, try to be different than your competitor by offering programs and initiatives that only your organization could offer.

This is a common misconception that is easily propagated as more and more of these national studies are conducted. If your organization’s initiatives are based on surveys that do not even assess your employees, you may want to re-think your approach to workplace initiatives. Instead of basing any initiative on the results of a national survey, try using national surveys as input into your own employee surveys.

This is becoming more and more problematic as more and more workers have access to technology, especially mobile technology. The problem is that many employees don’t know how to effectively utilize that technology, which can actually be creating inefficiency within the system. You can’t just make the technology available to make workers’ lives more flexible or efficient, you also have to train them on how to effectively manage that technology (so the technology doesn’t end up managing them).

This is a typical problem that results when the people at the top make decisions based primarily on their view from the top. Sometimes, senior leadership can come up with a great idea for improving an organization that would be very effective - if only the workers really bought into the initiative, if only the workers felt the initiative was worthwhile, and if only the initiative worked as well in practice as in theory. This is where effective communication and employee involvement mechanisms can be extremely useful tools. Vet your ideas before you spend the money implementing them. You’ll be glad you did.

In the work place one is there to perform a particular task or job that one is assigned and one is issued specific guide lines as to how to go about with the job, so why assume or imagine or create ideas, do your job and get paid for it.

Expect things to go at your pace! Everyone has their own views over a topic and might not consider the work assigned as importantly as you do. Hence, the best way to see your work being accomplished is constant followup. A follow-up keeps a check on the time frame and also helps you see the work being done in the way desired by you.
