Integration of social network features

idea posted by Subhankar Sanyal Sales/BD Manager, Bharti Airtel

According to me this will be the trend that will catch on like anyting. Recently yahoo launched an advanced email system that illustrates the value of relationship managed communications, and this new notion will be incorporated into an expanding notion of presence as the central framework for communications and collaboration.

Presence-centered personal communication is the most "tactical" of the major trends because it will have an immediate impact on a number of emerging technical and product trends in 2009. Collaboration and telepresence both work better, and justify more investment, if they're mediated through social-network-like frameworks. This is likely to be one of the major areas of focus in harmonizing all of the Web 2.0 APIs. It's also likely to be a focus for unified communications and even things like IMS, femtocells and fixed-mobile convergence (FMC).

My Vote is split between Content Delivery  and Social Networking. I am choosing latter over the former because I think integration of social network features will form the basis of the requirements for Content Delivery. When I say that I go back go my opinion voiced on several other questions, Contents will be driven by consumer requirement, and consumer requirement will be guided by social networks of the consumer.

Cloud Computing essentially remains another way for providers to restrict their costs, move fast and offer an array of services. The technology hereon will be driven by social behavior and not the other way round.

Cheers

Collaboration in all forms has been of utmost importance to individuals and companies alike and integrating social network features to collaborate would surely justify or even surpass the investment made; for being connected opens up a great many new opportunities to capitalize upon.

I agree that social networking will change the way sales revenue streams are enhanced into the future. With tens or thousands of first level b2b contacts and millions within a few levels, I have received many rewarding partnership opportunities.

I used my experience in networking to build a dsl sales channel of over 600 reseller and distributorship organizations at Flashcom. Some of these companies had networks of over 40,000 sales agents.  Flashcom was one of the largest dsl isps nationwide during the dotcom boom. We sold services for Covad, Northpoint, Rythms, AT&T, Cisco. 3-com. Pacbell. Southwest Bell. Flowpoint and more.

Emergence of Content delivery network or Cloud computing

idea posted by Bharat Satija Asst. Manager/Manager -(NonTechnical), General Electric

This sure to change the whole scenario altogether where content providers are happy to pay for content delivery network (CDN) caching, and Software as a Service (SaaS) providers are eager to find good cloud computing resources. The access carriers are putting money there, and these new resources link not to the Internet core but to the access networks, this is where telecoms worldwide have seen the opportunity to create a link between investment and revenue, and that new link threatens the whole legacy model of the Internet. So this is pretty much exciting..

I would also say that emergence of content delivery network or cloud computing will be the next big thing in the telecom sector.

4G technology

With 3G coming to India in 2009, I think Research and development spending will be on 4G technology, by which video conferencing will be possible due to high bandwidth as much as 100Mbps...

4G will certainly bring the usual telephony ecosystem to the IP and when this happens we will have nearly free calls as the bandwidth used would be of the internet and not the normal celluar one. This will certainly make cellular usage cheap .Think about it , calls ,sms, other data servecies will be used extensively  and a new businesses will come up catering to this new trend.

Also number portability ( to be implemented soon in India ) will further drive the telecom market.Consumers are about to witness a completly new experience .Things in the telecomm domain will suirely happen at the speed of thought. In coming time things are filled  with thril and excitement and 4G tech will be at the center of all innovation.

Online Ecosystem

idea posted by Shyamal Maity Sales/BD Manager, AT&T

To me, the Online Ecosystem where both the web and the telecom will join to give a single business model, this will be the hottest new trend for this year, and a Major telecom company said that it is bringing new tools for this strategy for the cohesive development framework. There were articles about how Google was looking for a "fast lane" from access providers to speed its content to users seemed to make it clear that the old face-off between the over-the-top players and the telecoms might be ending.
