I want to say that we should make the ministers to travel in the roads & then they will realise how it feels in the back. They should realize how a common man feels when he travels daily up & down on the same road. |

Yes, I support your idea.
Tendering procedure should be transparent.Political interference should be avoided & guarantee should be taken for at least 5 years from the contractor.
Yes Neelima, we have to improve our road conditions by planning maintainability while laying of Roads. Yes even though it is bit expensive concrete roads are better options. The life of the concertize road is min. 15 years without any maintainance & after 15 years with minor repairs it has a life for another 5 years.
Since it requires proper planing pertaining to laying of cables,water pipes,sewerage pipes under the ground, so that it cannot be digged for the purpose. Yes politicians r aware of that, but it was not their preference. Now people are started demanding & insisting for the good roads it has taken on priority especially the National Highways, which has improved a lot.of-course the heavy toll charges r another issue.
In cities the roads are mainly damaged by the plying of Heavy Vehicles carrying the goods. It should be banned at city limits & only Light Commercial Vehicles to be operated to carry goods into main city, apart from road conditions, we can also control pollution, Heavy Traffic in the city.
Stringent quality should be maintained along with checks & balances about the cost & quality of the road project. Harsh penalties & punishments to be awarded against unnecessary delay & corruption.
Present demand & priority of the people are Bijali,Pani & Sadak.
It's definitely a serious issue although some improvement has taken place in certain areas which is quite inadequate. About ministers travelling on these potholed roads, well, I'm many of them do that before elections when they travel to the interiors for campaigning. Having said that, we really can't leave it at that and must think of ways to get the government to work. Unfortunately, it can't happen as fast as we would like it to happen for the simple reason that our system of governance is wrongly structured. It can only produce the results that we have at hand. There's no accountability in our ill-structured system.

The common people are over bothered about the roads. If in rainy season cause damage to roads then media projects it as a big issue so the govt is compelled to do something to close the mouth of media even it is not standard work to maintain roads.. thus a temporory work is doing just for turning attention and it will not make any improvement in quality of the roads. So I think govt should plan and do the necessary actions to imporve the roads before they got verymuch damaged. and ofcourse im not agree with Mrs neelima because in kerala The PWD minister is very much concerned about the condition of the roads and no need to test travel through roads.. |

TO HAVE BETTER ROADS AND PUCCA TAR RODS MORE FUNDS ARE TO BE ALLOCATED BY THE RESPECTIVE STATE GOVTS AND CENTRAL GOVT.IN TODAY`S CONDITION GOVTS WILL ONLY FOCUS ON PROVIDING FOOD AND WATER FOR THE CTIZENS IN RURAL AREAS UNCONNECTED WITH TOWNS AND CITIES NEARBY. |

Roads plays a major role in the growth of any economy. What has happened is that roads are made just for connectivity purpose. This has lead to lot of problems like roads not sufficient for the growing traffic. Roads has to be build taking in to consideration the volume of growth of a particular region. Like what will be the amount of traffic in the said region in 10 years from now.etc., so only a well planned approach can meet the growing demand for roads.

Agreed.. Govt. should encourage more PPP in this regard and bidding process should be much faster/Transparent/ethical. Institutions who are having MONOPOLY in building transport network only not get the job , BUT the OTHERS who are entering or not having a BIG BANNER (SO called) will also get the chance to prove themselves. This will help to build not only a better service but a better future as MORE participation will create more quality service.
