As we all know that 2009 was the most challenging year for CIOs in the corporate and public sectors as they faced multiple budget cuts, delayed spending and increased demand for services with reduced resources, there are many expectations from the budget this year. Therefore, I would like to ask the users in this platform like. What are your expectations from the IT budget in 2010?  do share your views.

Value-creating productivity

idea posted by sumitra dutta Consultant, XYZ

As 2009 was more concentrating in cost reduction because of huge recession. I expect IT budget to focus more on Value creating productivity in 2010. In particular, CIOs must show the way through the way of IT over complexity and re-imagine IT as a source of innovation. But each member of the C-suite must play a role in creating IT value: The CEO should align in IT initiatives with overall strategy, the CFO in prioritizing and understanding IT value management, and the COO in ensuring that IT initiatives support crucial, customer-facing business processes.

By managing in IT innovation and managing out IT complexity, companies can once again truly drive value through their IT spending.

I think the so called value creating projects will be shelved and branded as long term initiatives.... CIOs today will focus only on short term, immediate projects that will reduce their assets and the associated operational expenses...you need money to save money .... I guess they will milk out that money from intiaitives like this first and then look at long term projects....Of course we will not say no to any value creating projects...

IT Buget

idea posted by DIMPLE KANTHARIA B.E. [Computer]
Approximately 69% of IT spending in 2010 will be allocated to existing systems, while about 31% will be spent on building and buying new
systems. This ratio remains largely the same compared to this year's numbers.

Getting something on a universal usage of personal ID sites will help people to let them recognized anywhere across the globe which is required to be presented as and when required like Passport, DL and many more for a proof.
