First, invest in alternative energy such as nuclear, solar, wind, hydroelectric, etc. that will take away a lot of the need to use fossil fuels for electricity generation. |

Agree to that .. need to have alternative fuel like biofuel for heavy transport where one doesnt need high throttle experience...junking of old vehicles , coupled with car pooling
Subsidies should be removed as it only leads to dead weight loss and burden comes to common man and oil companies
Tax ratio intervals can be rearranged as a function of consumed fuel per seat.kilometer for passenger cars or per kg.km for material carriers. It will orientate vehicle buyers to choose less fuel consuming ones, thus demand will enforce vehicle producers to develope less fuel consuming technologies.
In addition to investment on alternate and more green energy resources and regulatory policies, we should also have better and swifter enforcements.
We are a developed country and we still have bedford trucks from the 1940s plying our streets! Yes, we must set an age after which a vehicle must be junked or scrapped.
We must also encourage research in to alternate sources by giving them tax benefits for proven research.

|
Stop use of vehicles older than 15 years. The Govt. must not allow any auto manufacturing unit with more than specified unit of automobiles production. India should have compulsorily have a single day as no vehicles day i.e. no vehicle on road except emergency services. |

For the less oil independent economy we the common man has to take a lots of steps such as using public transport rather than private transport, Use of Cycle for short distance which make u healthy and conserve oil also. And thirdly find how to use natural energies such as solar, wind etc for our day to day life.

I had a bit different Opinions which has the same way to arive at the result: Basically Oil is used as an Source of Energy and has surely a replacement available by nature itself... One shud priorties on the Max Oil consuming Sector such as Fuel for Inds, Fuel for Automobiles etc... The major one and Minor shud be given Equal attention... e.g. N gas has reduced the Oil requirement in Vehicles as well Inds and has played a Vital role in reducing the Emissions, Oil Imports , Storage problems, Safety Issues etc... and Has Proved to be an Excellant replacement for OIL.... Similerly, Govt shud Focus on Increasing the Consumption of Substitute Fuels for Oil either thru High Oil Prices lower Other fuel Prices, High Taxes and any other way... This will safeguarde the Domestic Inds and Automobile users also... India being a Agri Economy and has lots of Agri waste available concentrating on such sources can help to reduce dependability on Oil and therefore resulting in Low Import and Self DRIVEN ECONOMY... |

With the issue of depleting oil reserves, the urgent need of the hour is to find out the alternative resource for oil. Countries like China which have M85 & M100 from public vehicles is planning to implement M85 for smaller vehicles and for private vehicles. With the implementation of M85 the consumption of oil will drastically come down. (M85: mixture of methanol (85%) and gasoline(15%)).
Even developed countries are moving towards higher methanol or ethanol mixture with the gasoline. Given the fact that the fuel efficiency can also be increased, why is that India alone not implementing this policy?
The best answer I sought are,
1. We do not have huge ethanol or methanol production
2. The main source of ethanol production in India is from Sugar Cane industry and for Methanol we have to dependent upon yet another oil dependent "natural gas".
So what are we supposed to do?
1. Immunized our agriculture system and increase the productivity. Well are doing it but with the stand of reducing the inflation. Well this alone will not be enough. We need to think on the strategic perspective as not to increase the food prices when the alternative fuel policy is implimented.
2.Develop an strategic relationship with Industries that produce ethanol so as not to leave them free hand to produce what ever they need.
Well all these are not an job to be done in a flick. It is obviously an 1000 mile journey but one or the other day we need to cross all those 1000 miles. Better to start early.....
R&D andiInvestment to renewable sources will be time and source loss, but nuclear instead.

|
India should have long term planning in alternative energy sources and should develop R & D for tapping vast available source of solar energy, wind energy and wave technology and fuel cell to avoid most dependent on oil.

As a simple general chemistry knowledge, if the temperature of any chemical reaction is increased by 10 degree Celcius, its reaction time is halved. By using this rule, plant and animal remain mixtures can be converted into crude oil at around 400 or 500 degree Celcius in a couple of days instead of million years at 60 or 70 degree Celcius. This experiment has been done to prove the organic theory for the origin of hydrocarbons, but not to produce oil. Because the input energy for this process is more then the output can be obtained from the product. So, Mr. Ravikirian Maske's thought is tecnically feasible but not economically.
Currently all world is using mostly energy source as Petroleum (Oil & Gas) and Coal. This is natural resource. But has been generated through some natural process. We need to do more R&D to manufacture these aurtifically but easily with low cost from plantation or any other naturaly available resources. We should do R&D in fast growing of plant which can be used as Fuel and then utilized whatever available land for such plantation.

Our roads are gas gushers, where non-scientific roads system make automobiles consume more gas than what is required per km distance. So scientific road system which tantamount to efficiency in road travel is the only way out for Indians to reduce wastage in gas usage. India consumes more gas/distance compared to USA because of this simple reason. |

rail and sea transportation also require oil
Priorities should be given to railway and sea transportations.

1) INDIA IS A TROPICAL COUNTRY AND ALL PARTS OF INDIA HAVE SUNSHINE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR; THEREFORE BOTH THEGFOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE PLAYERS SHOULD RESORT TO GENERATING ELECTRICITY BASED ON SOLAR ENERGY IN A VERY BIG WAY, ESPECIALLY IN RURAL AREAS 2) A LONG COAST ON EAST AND WEST AND THE TWO MONSOONS PRESENT EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP WIND AND SURF ENERGY |

|
MR.SRINIVASAN`S IDEA OF EXPLOITING SOLAR AND WIND ENERGY IF IMPLEMENTED PROPERLY WILL NOT ONLY INCREASE ENERGY BUT WILL BE A GREAT BOON FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN RURAL AREAS BY GIVING THEM PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT,ASSURED INCOME AND UPGRADATION OF THEIR LIFESTYLE.

Rather than increasing taxes on oil and oil products or cars, we should be looking to providing positive incentives on energy saving. The basic economics now works in favor of oil as fuel. Till that economics is reversed no one is going to use lesser oil. Alternate fuels and alternate sources of energy (solar, wind, nuclear, etc.) should be produced more so that there are economies of scale reducing the output cost and making it cheaper to use. That's a long-term solution by the way. |

as everyone is aware the govt of india subsidises price of petrol and diesel.Aam admi is not the beneficiary.Luxury cars are available in diesel version.Anybody who can afford to own a luxury car can definitely afford to run on petrol.Diesel should be used for public transport.Upgrading it will attract owners of 4 wheeler or 2 wheeler there by curtailing the consumption of Petrol and diesel. secondly should also focus more on CNG. |

impose more duties on luxury cars and also restrict giving licence to new car and motorbike setting industries. Encourage use of cycle and electric operated vehicles by giving tax deduction and incentives.

A set of people believe that dreams change and hence buying a dream home just increases the maintenance cost whereas renting one is relatively better option. In today's world where the property rates are increasing like nothing else. Which... |
JV needs more dedication and yes sir back stabbing approach kills it all. The end result of a well set JV with values gives more value. |
No we are not.. not right now. We are still in recovery stage and this time I do not think the same mistake will be repeated. Having tough time is one thing and going back to recession is totally different, we cannot mix them. |
