Consumer requirements

idea posted by Dr. Raghavendra M.S Chief Medical Officer/Head Medical Services, Home Health Care

The consumer alias patient is the prime consern in todays world. First we should know what the consumer requires. Then tailor make the requirements and then fulfill it. Then the requirement should be fulfilled at a minimal and affordable cost but not to neglect the quality of care. But the problem is that the policy makers and the service providers and the patients have a big gap and to fulfill this is prime concern. Dr. Raghavendra M.S, HOD, Department of Preventive Health Care, Sagar Hospitals.

In health care sector, consumer is patient. Patient should know more about drug, disease and doctor. Patients have lack of information. In health care sector, patient is taken for granted. Patient must reach to right doctor at right place where they get treated efficiently. Also the cost of treatment must be controlled and regulated by government. Number of hospitals form a trust to get more government facilities, to save taxes. Most of these hospitals never help poor patients for which their are provisions. I think PATIENT MUST BE KING.

Dr.Raghavendra i fully agree with you.Until and unless patients requirements is not taken care of and efficient service is not being provided to them then it will not go well with the business. The first and foremost priority of the healthcare sector should be hygienic place and efficient service to all the patients.

I think what Dr. raghavendra is saying is absolutely right and should be the personal care and the needs of the patients that should be the primary concern for the healthcare industry.

Human Touch

idea posted by ................... (Dr.) ..

I know of a patient who was battling with his life being a terminal case of cancer. He told his physician "Doctor the diseases will keep getting treated, here I WANT TO GET TREATED".I think before anything else,it is important that the patients be treated like humans and not beds or cases.Being a doctor myself, here I may sound like Munna Bhai but this is a bare fact which I have myself witnessed in my practice also.As technology is advancing, this aspect is getting lost somewhere.I think more than anything else, the patients seek empathy from the healthcare service providers right from the doctors to the supporting staff.

I once read this somewhere:

A wise physician told me once,"I have been practising medicine since the past 30 years and I have prescribed innumerable drugs, but I have learned that for most of what ails the human creature, the best medicine is LOVE."

What if it doesn't work?I asked. "Double the dose." He replied.

Customer of healthcare industry is a human being. Any service given with human touch will make the positive difference. If an organisation completes all demands of the customer, without human touch then it will be of no use.

Dear All

What really patient needs is purest of pure compassion and healing right from entry to exit. What counts for the patient is his/her experience with every staff member be housekeeping, nurse, cosultant or administrator including the catering person who serves the food to the patient. The need of the day for the patient is love and compassion that is straight from the heart. "Being" in service comes first prior to the "Doing" service. Hope I am communicating to all

I totally agree with Dr... Idea, we cannot loose the Bases for which the Healthcare industry stands on.........Healthcare is all about taking "care" of the Patients. Taking care of the Patient is not about his illness alone; taking care requires us to go beyond the set norms and doing the best we can for the Patient and his family.....Our Healthcare industry needs to understand that the Best International Standard Practices will all be in place if you focus on the Patients needs his requirements his infomation and all the technology and serivices if only we do it with the Human touch angle in mind.........

WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER THAT THE PATIENT IS A HUMAN A MAN FIRST A MAN WHO IS EMOTIONALLY MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY NEEDING OUR CARE. YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL PART WHICH IS VISIBLE AND CHARGABLE BUT A REALLY HAPPY AND HEALTHY RECOVERED INDIVIDUAL WILL BE THE ONE WHO HAS GOT THE RIGHT EMOTIONAL ENVIRONMENT WHEN HE NEEDED IT THE MOST.......

A trustworthy organization, which aims at service than to business generation

idea posted by Neetu Singh Information Systems(MIS)-Manager, DFID

Patients, in today's healthcare world are refrred, treated and diagnosed as a consumer where they need trustworthy doctors who can treat them to health.. than to take them as an oppurtunity for business generation. Primary health care should be the right for all, and all health institution whether public or private should provide.

The consumer as they are called these days are the patients . We can say reasonably well informed patient who look at the doctor with more of suspicion and less of trust .As said routinely  the faith is decreasing these days . there has to be an open debate on the need for striking sa balance with what the patient expects and what the care provider can provide. this will certainly help us cross the bridge that is widening as we are being well informed these days

Information

Focus should be done on information that consumers want and need to know when they are choosing health plans and on assessments of health care experiences for which consumers are the best or only source of information. To determine what consumers want and need to know in choosing health plan.

Technolgy and Services

idea posted by Anil Kumar Singh Senior Consultant, GKC
Consumers want access to technology and services that they do not get from health care providers - like online access to medical information and the price of physician/hospital services. Some 88 percent of consumers surveyed want expanded use of in-home monitoring devices and online tools to reduce the need for visits and enable them to take a more active role.

patient wait times

idea posted by success Account Director, home buissness
more ideas needed on how to effectively decrease patient wait times especially at the draw sites. Patient want to just come in and get their blood drawn. Should we use a triage system?Should patients have colour tags on their script, especially if you are a cardiac or hypertensive patient. Then that would eliminate the patient from gettig to hyper or palpating when they have to wait too long. any ideas?

To get immediate relief & assurance that only best efforts are done to him.

idea posted by PREM PRAKASH Dy.General Manager, Healthcare services, HLL Lifecare Limited

If I am a patient I would only expect that I am attended on time with right medical care.

I do not want un-necessary information or techno-high fi system that un-necessarily make mockry of myself.

So the idea is simple be honest in treatment & charges that only matters.

assurance of quality and efficacy by the regulator

idea posted by AMIT KATOCH Freelancer

The patient is ignorant of the quality and efficacy of the drugs that is prescribed to him or available as an OTC.That leads to lot of corruption at the retail counters as well as the clinics. Therefore it is the duty of the govt. to ensure that the medicine available is of good quality and right efficacy. This will go a long way in putting the faith of the patients on the drugs as well as on the doctors.

idea posted by swetha a DENTIST

With large number of competitors in health care industry,we still find the foci of reach is very limited.in patient's perspective, its the quality of treatment matters but the money does matter for most of the middle class and economically backward class people.we need to satisfy the value for money yet being able to fulfil 'hEALTH for ALL' needs.
