This is something new which many of the users don't know, and this I came to know from one of my anonymous friend on online, who suggested me to try this out, but then when I got a good grip of it, it was something huge and undiscovered space for me, Freenet is something where one could find data for anything, which normally one won't find on the normal web. And this Freenet is a software from which one can't track where the query is coming from and what kind of content is a user going through, it completely hides the data and makes one invisible on the web platform and, and many countries has banned this use of Freenet, but then somehow people get hold of this software and do all that stuff, there are blogs like "The Terrorist's Handbook: A practical guide to explosives and other things of interests to terrorists", "Freenet Warez Portal: The source for pirate copies of books, games, movies, music, software, TV series and more". And the experience was something which was not normal and a bit sick too, from porno to whole lot of other things which is very difficult to explain on platform. so thought it would be better stick to Google for now. I guess this was pretty much dark side of the internet for me. |

Appreciated Radha..to initiate such a good subject for discussion.
There are some more contents which affect the entire system of society and helps in deculturing the society..such as ...nude and rape games online for kids...pornography...sexual invitation in a vulgarity....method of preparing explosive....admiring non social activities in heroic form and so many things...these are the dark side of the net and easily available on search engines like google...msn...yahooo
This should also be banned by themselves..I mean by administration of search engines...

Though we all discuss about the dark side of net, but in actual grounds when we talk about how, when where it is originated from, comes from the people themselves who actually use it. Internet as we all know about, happens to be a society in itself which we all as society members share. When we talk about our security on internet by using proxy, masking and all such stuff what we do is promote the anti-social people to use it as well. A spam as we all know is a generic mail generated by bots and is sent to mass for a varied reasons but what we might not know is that we the people are the one who actually promote it...how???? Well all of us have one or the other account on social networking sites, try to play online games, do the net transactions and many more and each account created is logged somewhere or the other, today even google being the most powerful search engine actually searches all your profiles and accounts and at times mails sent as attachment where we are mentioned..there is actually no security even though if we mask ourselves..on the other hand just for some quick bucks..people sell these data banks to advertising companies or others who are looking for such data to capture potential customers. Hackers on the other hand being one of us looks for such open stuff to hinder our privacy, make things public. When we log on like an ignorant on net and look up for free songs or movies or games, the time when we visit chatrooms and if we check out pics or video profiles of anyone what at the back-end happens is that we actually download it to our cache and if in any case not using firewall or proxies are prone to put trojans along with them which can actually sneak through our systems to hold as a remote system to the attacker and then whatever the hacker might want to do he can actually play with us, our file system or basically our 'PRIVACY', There have been numerous cases where actually people were on live sites because their remote systems were affected by trojans and their webcams were working as sneak sets to show their personal life 'LIVE' on sites. Russia as we all know never happens to maintain any logs of what any Internet user does there, so ideally any hacker in Russia will never be tracked as there is no log maintenance that can actually hold him responsible of doing anything, next the multi-proxy masking that further strengthens them. So I consider that it is we who in the name of security but being ignorant are actually helping the anti-socials to be the knights of the 'The Dark Side' of the Internet and this is what i would call as the 'DARK SIDE' the Sub-Domain of the 'NET' itself. |

@ Abhay: Thats so very true..as it gives you the immense power from where all malicious stuff breeds and from here originates the porno, the uncensored stuffs, intrusions to your personal lives, free contents violating all legal norms...and the bottom line...dats hw the 'Dark Side' emerges....
Well actually that's pretty much true...
We created proxy to hide ourself on net and that samething that we were thinking is going to benefit us is actually turned against us. Just use Multi0Proxy servers HOPS and you can pretty much be invinsible on the NET from anyone....

According to me the Internet's Dark Side is The Internet never sleeps.
Hackers have many tools in their arsenal to draw people into their
world, intending to hook them for life. They send out thousands of
speculative "spam" e-mail messages containing inviting Web hyperlinks. |

The internet has become a tool for fundamentalist organizations to spread their dangerous ideology viz websites, social networks etc. Vulnerable persons may sometimes get carried away by such ideologies. It is not just "mass suicide" plots, but also potential terror groups. |

Yes I agree with you and there was an article on toostep Like facebook group planning mass suicide, which was really shocking, and internet has helped this group to grow and through social networking people are joining these groups and this is a disturbing behaviour that is seen on Internet these days.

Some programmes like nude and rape games online for kids...pornography...sexual invitation in a vulgarity....method of preparing explosive....admiring non social activities in heroic form and so many things, are the dark side of the net . the data or stuff available on the net shall be scrutinized thoroughly before putting on the net. there should be some control of data on the net. |

its one idea that some content should control at the service provider level and can be accessable onpayment basis. This could prevent accessing bad content to children and students. |
