Opportunity for growth

idea posted by Gargi Sinha Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates

Dear friend, as an employee I always expects growth in the field in which I am working, so an employer should tell the employees the opportunities for growth and development, both in their job role as well as in high-level positions that are on the same career track. I think by doing this it will help in the growth of the employee as well as the organisation.

Certainly growth. The proper growth is the first thing which gives Job satisfaction. If we came to know there is a proper appraisal system which based on our performance. Then automatically we work smart, and our innovation and learning skill is also increased based on that. So every employee /employer looks a mutual growth in their organization.

Trust towards employee

idea posted by Sonam Kapoor Software Developer, IBM

Interesting idea contest Mr. Sharama and my opinion is managers should create environments of trust in which all members of an organization are equally respected and have an equal opportunity to advance and contribute based upon capabilities. The manager intimately should know the members of their team, both their strengths and weaknesses and seeks to enhance skills of those members who require additional support while at the same time providing opportunities to those members who are ready for the more responsibility.

Trust should be in first place.

Mutual trust is a strong glue that binds the employer to the employee. Lack of trust is a sure breaker.

Good mentoring, freedom for expression & support in times of pllight

idea posted by Resmi Maxim GENERAL MANAGER - OPERATIONS, SI PROPERTY (KERALA) PVT.LTD.,

An employer succeeds when he is accepted as a Mentor and Role Model by the Employees. A Mentor is one who sincerely advocates and imparts training to his employees and paves the way for them to tread on the right path. He must enlighten the employee about his shortcomings and praise him for the contributions. Every employee wishes the employer to appreciate him on his performance. A pat on the shoulder will do wonders! No doubt, an employer who gives freedom for expression, acknowledges achievements without bias and supports employees’ in times of plights would be much loved and liked.

Learning environment

idea posted by Rajender Sharma Senior Consultant, Softwell

The employer should provides a learning environment for all employees. Organizations that focus on internal learning and encourage employees toward both internal cross training and external education will reduce attrition and increase employee satisfaction. The rapid rate of change especially in technology today demands that employees continually enhance skills and knowledge throughout their career. Organizations that recognize the need for skills management, encourage, and contribute to their employees to learning, cross training, and continuing education will find themselves with a committed workforce.

Creative Space

idea posted by Ajay Chaudhari Chief Executive Officer, Adroit Consultants

While the ideas suggested are all relevant, an employee needs to be himself/herself. Why did an organsiation hire a particular person? Because s/he had some qualities that appealed. So why change those very attributes?

This is different from Growth since one can grow by doing one's job well. But to be creative and exceed expectations will definitely keep an employee happier and hence lead to better retention. Of course, creative space can only happen when the immediate managers are ready to offer that freedom and create such an environment.

Every employees look for growth in the organisation. I think organization should show them clear picture, how to rise in the company. There should be clear-cut career and succession plan.

Friendly teamwork

idea posted by Nikhil Jain Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates

A new employee in any organisation takes time to establish himself in any organisation. During these time, he looks towards an friendly environment in the company so that he can adjust himself freely and can work more effectively. If he gets all these in his superiors or employer, that "too good" for him since he won't get nervous in expressing his views and will give more quality performance...
