I agree with you Mr. Sharama and like to share my opinion. When a person fails to complete the duties you have assigned to him or her is also presenting early signs of disinterest. This lack of dependability may even be purposeful as the employee intentionally slows down on production to get back at you or to try to show dominance. Even an employee who is honestly undependable is still a problem, as the result is the same either way. The work they need to do is not getting done. The most often sign an employee shows against dependability is poor attendance. |

firstup all i want to say thanks to dharsa who mail this message................ya.i agree with that i an company when the empolyees are working only few were close to their boss or senior officers and due to that the officiels use them as detectors among the employees and able to collect the information this is the main reason where the employees were seperated and they gets break through
ill will support this idea.. u r very right darshana
Darshana said very true. Mr. Sharma also put good observations in the topic.

He may not display disinterest or absent himself; Nor will be seen as not picking up calls; but becomes more interested in other companies the type of work, opportunities, work culture and keeps comparing with the present work and company |

I beg to differ with some of the views expressed.A disinterested professional is not going to easily let you on to his feelings, depending on his EQ he will maintain very good interpersonal relationships and will gather vital company specific info on clients, customers, contractual clauses and rates that will give him a competitive advantage over others in the job market. He will apply for only half day leaves to attend interviews. His departure will be sudden and unexpected. He would have accumulated leave that he could use as a trial period in the new company. He would have worked out his joining bonuses and have his new employers payout the notice period. It is therefore imperative that directs build a personal relationship to get clues to proactively respond with a strategy to nullify the adverse impact of a separation- which is the concluding logical step of a disinterested employee. Theft and other issues mentioned are an ethical and value based dimension, not in the realm of disinterest in the company. He is disinterested in the present company which not an indication of disinterest in other companies or his reputation and future.Regards, John D'Cruz

The first and formost sign of disinterest towards the work is " Absenteeism". if a particular employee is make more number of leave with un necessary purpose then its shows his commitment towards the work. the lack of commitment is leads all the problem in the work place. |

Employees are often ill without reason. They feel bad because they have to face situation they cannot deal with. They are really suffering BEFORE they know the disinterest they feel.
That is the first sign.
Yes, the earliest warning is Absenteeism!!!
|
|
Behaviour !!! One can see marked changes in behaviour. The person usually becomes rude and lethargic. Starts blaming things and systems often. A negative attitude surfaces up. Will start claiming MRs & LTAs |

True! There are a lot of changes in the employees attitude, which shows up in his behavior!!
The Manager whom she/he reports to should ensure he/she identifies this and tries to counsel the employee!!
An open door policy should be present in all companies which will ensure that no employee is dissatisfied and the Manager / TL gets the resignation letter in the end / the employee leaves without notice!
Identify the changes and rectify it! Help employees grow in the organization! Employees grow! Organization grows!

Srinivas

Resources will tend to deliver less and take more prolonged breaks during work hours to show that they are not happy with environment/boss/project etc. This is an early sign of dis-interest in their assigned tasks and we need to work with them before they become completely negetive and leave the organization. Typically a close working manager/leader can observe this type of behavior from a good/bad resource and work with them to see, what best he/she can do to remove the blockage in the resource's mind. It's not an easy task when a person is in negetive mood to change, but definetely it's not IMPOSSIBLE for sure. If the resource was the Mr. or Ms. Dependable for a project/task, we need to work with them very closely and show them how important is their role in the assigned project and if there is something that can be done on immediate basis to win them, we as manager may have to take few extra steps and work with Sr.Mgmt or HR to do the best. If we honestly want to work with a Resource, we can surely make 'em understand the situation and keep them happy before they become counter productive or harmful to project/organization. |

A person apparently does not show any signs of discontent or disenchantment but starts doing routine duties without zeal and does not become proactive. Unless you can read such early warning signs of silent behavioural revolt, not only will you lose a loyal employeee but also keep him on your payroll. While earning from you he will slowly but surely keep eating into the organisation's productivity like termite. |

Out of disinterest, active becomes passive first. Absenteeism, lack of commitment, visible slowdown in performance etc follows passive response. Agree with Kirit Nanubhai.

People leave when they feel they have been treated unfairly or if they get head-hunted for a much better opportunity. It all boils down to not feeling valued by the company. The first sign that a person is unhappy especially in a professional scenario is cynicism about his efforts not being recognized, about his manager, about HR practices etc etc. see this fab article about how good leaders make people feel really valued http://thoughtleadersllc.blogspot.com/2009/11/did-you-blink-4-leadership-trends-you.html |

yes this is what all comes down to, where one's work is not appreciated and this leads to disinterest among employees and thanks for the link Ms. Veena...

Friends, as I have seen in many companies, the lack of honesty is the first warning sign of employees disinterest. You may catch the employee in a couple 'white lies' that are not a big deal at first. What you may not realize is that these white lies are the employee's way of testing you. If you don't call the employee to the table for telling these little white lies, he or she thinks it is acceptable to lie to you and that it is easy to get away with telling stories. Before you know it, these lies will escalate to major lies that disrupt the efficiency of your business. |

Persevasiveness=Persevere+Evasiveness.Employees concentrate all of their energy
on eluding any work task/assignment and they waste an inconceivable amount of
time ensuring their bosses think they are busy....

If i were the HR of the company then i would first want to know the reason why employees are not taking interest. I will first try to solve that. Because in India all employees are not passionate and dedicated towards their work every time so the company should think of making the work interesting. Various strategies can be followed with guidance of some experts by the company also by checking feedback from employees .If we have selected an employee so its our responsibility how we get the work from him/her in time.Company also can develop the interest in employees by changing its ancient ideology. |

In my personal opinion, the very first signs you see in employees desinterest is that they do not take seriously the company communications and meetings. and the opposition to provide extra support of required. These signs indicate that the employees do not longer trust in the organization and that they do not take company goals as own. |

During an interview or even later there are things which your HR should not know. These are the things which might reduce your value or become an obstacle in your progress or may be get you rejected in an interview. What do you think are the... |
Perhaps in next few months we will see rise in the activity. Right now things are cold and slow. |
I dont know which side to take because both are equally tough ones. Idealistic professionals are few but still there are performers. I am not satisfied by the sides given. |
