Ethics & Morality

idea posted by neha singh Content Editor, Avestia Corp
I think we are living in very morally bankrupt times. Leaders should teach their employees ethics and to stand up for what is right. NEgative practices should be cut down and the stock index is just a joke for which so many people do so much wrong. A company should benefit society and not just be a money making mechanism.

I agree with neha.
Entrepreneur should have values, morals and ethics & should learn from & teach their employees first. Talking about professional ethics puts you on a high moral platform and encourages the other person to either join you or look up to you. It will help in inciting good relationship from all directions & make employee also responsible from their side....

Yes! I agree for the same. Human being is a social animal. One cannot imagine without society. We are all part of the society. One may ignore the society, but society will not ignore/leave anyone. Actually, human relation depends on two ways i.e. “give and take relationship”. So being a part of society one must also think from all corner that what we are giving to the society. As such ethics & morality plays vital role.

Employees are not motivated by money alone

idea posted by Amit Madhav Senior Consultant, GKC

Every Entrepreneur should understand that money is not the only motivator.  Employees do work for money , but it isn't their biggest motivator. An Entrepreneur should understand what motivates them, there needs, he should be able go deeper in finding out what inspire them to perform well.

One should understand what motivate each person in your team, so try to work upon it. Sometimes money helps to meet psychological needs, money necessarly can't drive them to work harder and harder everytime..

Job satisfaction is the key apart from money. If you are meeting my basic needs monetarily and I am overall satisfied with all other aspects of my job like job profile, career growth, self development, culture, benefits. work-life balance, etc.. I would never think of switching a job. The only thing that would probably take me away would be an offer that is unimaginable - maybe double promotion and/or doulbe salary. or a dream job. I personally believe that money is not the trigger point for a resignation in more than 80% cases.

Reward me for the quality and not for the time

idea posted by Dayanand Deshpande Senior Consultant, Ernst & Young

"Reward me for the quality of work and not for the time I spend doing that work" This is what every employee wants from his superior.

Business is every Entrepreneurs dream and they are the one who have to  work for hours not the employees.

If entrepreneur keep evaluating them based on number of hours they work, it will just demoralize them.

So reward them for the service they provide to the customer.

Respect

idea posted by amit chaudhry Senior Consultant, IML
I want to say that every entrepreneur should respect every employee for the effort they put in.

Most entrepreneurs start the business because they were not treat with respect when they were employee. If you do the same with your employee, what's the difference between you and your ex-boss. So its better to treat every employee with respect.

Yes I agree with Amit.Ahfterall its not money that make a person satisfiy fully.Apart from money if we pay attention to our own attitude towards our employee that makes a greeat effect too.

Mis behaviour alway makes the employee inhibitory to his work while nice and affectionate behaviour encourage them.It icrease the work ethics in the employee.

Respect does not mean that we have to bow down before our employee it just nice behavior or appreciation of their wor.

what makes them put their 100%

idea posted by Surendra Sinha Senior Consultant, Tata Administration Services (TAS)

Employers should find ways to know what makes employees put their 100% in any thing they do. It may be achieved by communicating with them regular basis, getting feedbacks etc..

How to improve the perfomance of an employee

idea posted by Arti Arora Branch Manager/Regional Manager, NII
  1. Find out why employees are not performing and ask what you can do to help them do a better job.
  2. Tell employees what you expect.
  3. Give employees clear performance standards.
  4. Make sure that employees have the tools to do the job.
  5. Get employees input on what behaviors they (the employees) should be engaged in.
  6. Improve your feedback by dealing with the problems that are within an employee's control, think through what you will say and how you will say it, and be specific about behaviors rather than attitudes

Transparency in career path

idea posted by Avijit Dey Consultant, Search Management Consultants

At the end of the day we work with an organisation not only for money but also for a visible career path in terms of diversification and job enrichment. Critical skills should be identified by organisations at all levels and given due recognition. Output will definitely grow

Kown Your Employee Prior To His/Her Employment

idea posted by Amar K. Keralikar Senior Associate, MD&T Partners

Most of the views provide for steps to be taken by an entrepreneur post employment. Well, it is a must the every entrepreneur makes an informed assessment of every employee prior to his/her employment. The success of the entrepreneur depends on the quality of employees he/she/it recruits. In my view, it is very essential for every entrepreneur to verify each employee’s identity and background to its/his/her satisfaction. The entrepreneur should, therefore, require each employee to provide with his/her complete employment, educational, personal, credit, identification, health, criminal history and such other documents, records and information requested by the entrepreneur, from time to time, during the term of the employee’s employment with the entrepreneur. In view of the above, the entrepreneur should ensure that: (i) all documents  provided by the employee are originals, or conform  to  the  originals; (ii) all documents are true, correct, accurate, complete and reliable; (iii) all documents provided were validly authorised and executed;(iv) the employee’s applications and resumes are not exaggerated in any form or fashion and do not contain any fraudulent representations, falsifications or material omissions; (v) other  than  the documents and such  other information provided to the entrepreneur, there are no other relevant documents or information that would impact the employee’s employment with the entrepreneur; and (vi) the documents and information provided are exhaustive, such that the entrepreneur would be able to make an informed assessment of the employee with respect to his/her employment with the entrepreneur.
