As per global HR solutions provider Kenexa, Indian employees, along with their peers in Brazil and China, portray highest levels of confidence in the future of their companies.

The global employee confidence index score saw a slight improvement to 98 in the fourth quarter ended December 2009 from 97.9 in the third quarter. Brazil (107.5), China (105.6) and India (101.3) reported the highest levels of employee confidence in the fourth quarter of last year.

Employee confidence fluctuated throughout 2009, with the majority of countries reporting both increases and decreases. Whereas India and China were the only two that had an increase in scores, quarter over quarter. So people, What factors attribute employee's confidence towards their organization? Do share  your views on this, there would be many employees who think one such factor which instills confidence towards their employers.

I think this is the major factor that instills confidence among the employee's as if the organization or a company if effectively managed then its a sure shot that the company will grow where they had set their goals & the other thing being how competitively the organization is positioned in the market and from there where it will head in the future, if the company has a good prospect of growth and a wider acceptance in the market, then that will instill confidence among the employees as they will feel they are in the right place and there will be good growth of themselves along with the organization.

Cannot sum it better than you have Gargi. But there is one most critical factor that needs a mention here and that is TRANSPERENCY. This attribute has to filter down from HR to ALL LEVELS without any prejudice and I suppose that this is indeed a task! Thanks for the referral :)

I agree with the statement but not 100%, the reason behind, it depends upon the level of employees, if we are talking about junior employees, they need recognization , respect & trust more, butt when we are talking about senior employees, they look all the factors, wheather company is effectively managed or not, financial strength, power or authority to perform & development plans of the company, personal development programmes, competition factors, & branding of organization is also playing major roles. So we cannot decide on one factor, it’s a mixture of different attributes. Employee confidence is the biggest factor to earn by employer, that’s why they develop great combition of all factors, so that they can best talent in the market & can retain for longer period.

Employees confidence in the organization depends on certain parameters:-

  I] Growth prospects: If growth is good employee would like to stick with the           

     organization and will be loyal .

 II] Management: If management cares for the employees some of them would like

     to stick even if growth is not their.

III] Appreciation: This keeps the moral high and many would like to stick with the

     Organization, may be other things does not matter to them.

IV] Benefits: Given On different works, Achievements, Hitting the Targets

 V] Envoirment of the Organization: this is most important but not in every

     Organization, still people are loyal on some other counts.

In a broader out-look and to my thinking if  II],III],IV],V] are their then Growth of the Organization no one can stop with Loyalty of the employees.

Delegation of more Authority!!

I feel an employee can get more loyal to an organization if more confidence is shown on the employee and soon more appreciable work is authorized to him/her. Usually, an employee is given much authority only when he gets older with the organization, therefore i feel if this time frame can be reduced to an extent then the employee would feel much better appreciated, placed and get more loyal to the organization. ...... i compeletely agree with mr .manish on trust building and creating accoutability which would further create loyalty among employees and encourage them to perform to there fullest and prove there grounds .such practices would also provide employees with prospects to expand there knowledge and familiarty regarding intracacies involved in decision making at various level .breakthroughs provided by them (the employees) would create value for company and strengthen there benchstrength in terms of sudden replacements and for employees it would be something they can mention in there resume .

These days employees want to be trusted, this has become more evident ever since Satyam scam came to light, employees wanted to be trusted some tasks other than their normal routine, employees are ready to wear multiple hats which most of them even make it aware to the employer during the interview & if that happens in reality they(employees) are happy. It is really good to see this is increasing in India unfortunately I have experienced it.

Considering current market scenario lot of people are thinking of quiting current job because of no salary hike since last 2yrs or so however if employer have kept them happy in some other way that is good too!! but yes what money can do others things cannot do, there are lot of companies who have gone on to do brand building with help of their employees instead of hiring some model or celebrity when such tasks are given to employees without any increment employees are sure to be happy & attrition going to be low.

Fairness in dealings

I think employees value fairness in dealings a lot. Often they may ignore harsh discipline and even accept it but not so with unfair dealing. Unfairness rankles and an employee to which it is done never forgets it.

Due recognition of Employee's work.

The due recognition of the employee's contribution to the growth of the organization certainly helps boost employee's confidence in the organization. The employee should be made to realise that one is important for the organisation and one's work is really adding to the growth of the organization. The idea can be conveyed by either rewarding the employee or atleast by making simple gestures or just by saying so. Also, the employee should be given due appointment and promotion as per his potence and calibre.
