Results were out. Minister started working.Budget is coming within 45 days. But still the biggest question is unsolved why BJP lost the battle this year also?? People are blaming Lk advani,Some are saying they did not target the youth, their marketing strategy was wrong, some are saying BJD left that's why,...But My vision is different here. I want to Know

"WHY CONGRESS WON THE BATTLE ??"" What factors led congress to win this battle ??"

BJP negative campaign

idea posted by Rahul Pandey CEO/MD/Director, Centurion Data Strategies (P) Ltd

Congress benefitted from the following

1. BJP focussed more on weak leadership of ManMohan Singh(MMS)

2. Internal Security

3. Terrorism

4. Inflation etc

All these issues had a negative tone. attacking MMS backfired as he is seen as a person who is very soft spoken, with a good image and incorruptible.

Internal security and terrorism did not cut ice with 'candle lighting' public of india.

Inflation as an issue failed to mobilise people as they were happy with sops like NREGA etc. People who have taken the biggest hit of inflation, the indian middle class, does not necessarily come out and vote.

So congress,in my opinion won by default. BJP inspite of having released a manifesto did not bother to talk about it and were hellbent on attacking image of MMS.

BJP has always absorbed negative campaigning. Always prompted hatred & spitted insults. Never once have we seen them talking about future, development or betterment of civic society. Always their portfolio handled criticism, past violence & religious upheavels. It is so sick to listen to their speeches & the sad dividing mindset. It was about time that they lose their faces in public. But they are so shameless that even in a loss they keep pointing fingers to others than accepting defeat in sporting way. People of India have atlast awakened and are tired of sulking religious politics and are looking forward for bright & refreshing feel of a better Indian society.

Congress was a failed party and it was a golden chance for BJP or other  party. What is the manin cause is the proper leadership inside BJP. Who will think of LK Advani as next PM. His factor led to vote swing  to Congress from BJP. If instead of L K Advani, it was some  leaders like Narendra Modi or Arun Shouri as projected PM, Indian should neglect Congress for a new regime.  When they could not see any good leader inside BJP, they feel it safe to vote for Congress again.

Congress's campaign was better

The Jai Ho strategy worked perfectly for Congress. Last time they did AAM AADMI campaign that worked for them so they did the same type of campaign this year also.

It is hard to find a common strand, given the complicated equations of caste, religion, urban-rural divide, linguistic and geographical diversity and male-female-youth constituencies. And these categorisations are only indicative. All of this makes the national advertising campaigns, which are supposedly based on a common strand that has to appeal across constituencies.

And congress did it very well. That's why they won the battle.

Absolutely right Himanshu!

Also the fact that when the nation was focusing on the young brigade coming on board and then taking over the reins of the country with a fresh NEW young look, Congress had hit the nail right on the head. The amount of media attention Rahul Gandhi received with the press particularly was not a joke. It was a studied campaign and the fact that the press carried a campaign with BW female celebs about what their views of Rahul werer was a damning case of Rahul's popularity!!

It was a very progressive and aggressive campaign.

yes Himanshu u r right. i just want to add, it was the Rahul factor which led most of the youth vote for that party.also negative campaining from BJP, common man's hatred over LEFT, and few regional parties against the principles of congress doing very badly in thier areas was also a plus point for congress victory.

Development

idea posted by Dinesh Raghav Pre-Press Executive, Eli Research

I think it was the factor of development which led Congress to win. Indian Voters do realize that coliation government do not lead India towards the path of a developed country, therefore they voted with the intention of a single party government.

During the Nuclear Deal it was clear that how the coliation government can provided resistance to the development process, however Mr Manmohan Singh came out with a stand, it can however be consider a fortune decision for him as well as Congress Party.

Mid-day meal, NREGA, farmer-loan waiver and low-price grains in villages were also seen as measures meant to safeguard the masses from slowdown. These gave a human face to the progress and an assurance that Congress cares for the rural populace.
