It is difficult to climb the ladder of success in the corporate world, and many say that one needs X factor & there has been a great deal of research on the X factor, which brings us power, charisma, unsurmounted success and respect. The corporate world has been keen on adopting the principles of the X factor, which are the keys to success. In my experience, I have discovered the X factor is not created by something we do; it is created by things we do not do.

While the X factor is easy to acquire, it is not so easy to maintain. Our talent, our hard work, our performance is enhanced when we have the X Factor. When we take care of the ‘not-to-do’ things, we move towards doing the right things by default. Success becomes easy and a joy to celebrate when we have the X Factor.

So I would like to ask you all, what is Corporate world's key to success?

Don’t compromise on integrity

idea posted by Darshana Sawant HR Manager, Leading IT services company

Success is a long-term achievement, not a one-time hallmark. Since it is a journey, never compromise on integrity as a trade-off for instant success. When we lose your integrity, we lose our chance of becoming a success.

Success is not a past-tense phenomenon; it is in present time, the sustenance of integrity. The crooked may find their way out faster while the keepers of integrity are left wailing, but integrity wins in the long term. The fall of the crooked is bigger than their rise.

Corporate world is more scientific and more systematic than the neighbors or competitors. This world run with a clear and innovative vision that others to follow. The job is well defined for every body and huge scope to excel. Honesty & Integrity should come out naturally in such infrastructure. I agree with Darsana.

I agree with other ideas as well but I support this idea because I believe this is the base to successfully implement/perform other ideas.

Also, this soft factor/attitude/value is something "embeded" in the company/organization, which cannot be imitated easily by others, yet it is companies and organizations without this that make unsound decision making and judgement, and consequently degrade competitiveness, reputation and brand, and fail to achieve sustainability

After all, corporate's ultimate success is sustainability, based on competitiveness and long-term high performance.

idea posted by Satish Kumar Assistant Manager - Green Building

Darshana, thanks for referral. For corporate to success, one need to walk on the fire. One need to think in a different direction, need a long and short term plan, and then need to execute the plan in the correct direction with the help of team and employee in the target time period.

Corporate success is the long term achievement. Current example is the Tata's, Infoysis, Wipro. One thing common is the leaders of all these companies. They have made their planning, thinking and execution in the correct time with full confidence and thats only the key for any corporate to success.

competencies and learning, collaborative leadership and networking, commitment,

idea posted by kshantaram GM-hrd/hr professor

basically one needs to have widespectrum role compentencies with subject knowledge, conceptual/technical skills, planning and execution skills with focus on strategic results, and ability to learn/acquire additional relevant knowledge and skills updating oneself continuously,

apart from being able to provide conceptual and technical leadership one needs to be able to collaborate effectively both inside and outside able to draw the needed strategic support able to influence others with emotional intelligence and networking skills keeping touch with the right relevant people each time,

and add to all this need for professional and personal commitment to the orgnisation and it's objectives and it's people sharing it's values, vision and mission on a fairly longterm basis making longterm strategic results alongwith institution building, team building.

hope these sound as the core ingrediants for corporate organisational and individual success,

regards/kshantaram

I have to agree to this. Nothing talks like success and track record of success. That in turn is brought on by competency, learning, innovation, collaborative leadership and a clear demonstration of ones ability to be a transformative leader.

For me, every person has his or her own strengths and weaknesses and the success will always depend on how he manage these characteristics that he or she has. Regardless of the financial instability, each person is destined to succeed, it only depends on him or her if he or she wants to.

Teamwork

idea posted by Capt(ex) Uday Mukherji Enterprise Development Advisor, International Development Enterprises

Only those individuals & organizations achieve results consistently over years and decades who understand the importance of teamwork; how to build a good team and maintain a team environment where individuals feel motivated to perform for the overall benefit of the team rather than indulge in cheap gimmicks for short term personal gains. Unfortunately most managers and organizations do not seem to understand this and actively incorporate this in their corporate culture. All processes, hiring, training, operations, rewards and recognitions need to be designed so as to promote teamwork. This has to be the subject given maximum importance in Corporate training specially at middle and senior levels.

Success depends on how you define it. If it achieving your objectives and at the same time not tampering with the stability of the society it is one thing and if it is working everything to ones self interest alone it is another thing.

Darshana

In my opinion, this x -factor is how you manage your perception in the company. You may toil day and night but if you are not able to build a good perception, your hard work at times donot pays. You should be visible  and audible in system. To manage perception, you could look to do things like have a god father in the co,not to do loose talks,do smart work, respect people, netwoking,be professional (document things by email),highlight your action in a positive way, process driven improvements (something new-out of box thinking)....list goes on n on......

Analyze the future business & economic environment

idea posted by D.Mahapatra COO, Earth Exports

Any business is basically selling. Whether it be a product, service, concept or an idea. Before offering anything to sell one must first consider if there is or there will be a demand for the product / service. Therefore we must analyze if the consumer will accept the item. Since business is always done with an idea to earn future profits, in my opinion a proper analysis of the future / expected economic scenario is necessary to arrive at the expectations / demand of the consumer and the society. Hence if we are able to properly study this future market and apply a SWOT as well as a SENSIITIVITY analysis to it, I feel it would go a long way towards achieving corporate success.

elements of Trust!!!

idea posted by Harminder Singh Gumbhir nil

Dear Folks!!!

The vital components which are key to success in corporate duniya are mainly the five elements of trust viz.(Integrity, consistency, openness, loyalty, competence) & showing empathy.

Furthermore, employee should keep  track of  latest happening in the corporate duniya especially in ones own industry.

Addtionally ,  "Theory Y" employees  tend to easily climb the corporate ladder and the icing on the cake is that these employees  directly/indirectly motivate "Theory X" employees  thereby helping the org. to achieve its goals and objectives.

Concluding to say ,if the above elements are blend together by an employee  they will surely going to help  him/her in reaching the higher echelons of corporate duniya.

Regards

Very truly

Employee equal treatment

idea posted by Syed Thameem Telecom Consultant - Senior, Consultant

Employees should be given equal Rights. from Top to Toe. From Driver to CEO levels. Charity should begin at home, this is the principle to be followed. If we don't treat your employees well, they will not be a Good will Ambassador for your brand. Make sure, treat them well, motivate,  talk to them, give rights to express. Don't overrule by Money or Power, otherwise you will Fade Away. We know how many corporates are disappeared between 1990- 2010, because of their wrong policies. Integrity is important.
