What is going to be next big thing in technology?

No doubt the clouds as it is going to more than what we can imagine in today. It can be the ability to rent a
server or a thousand servers and run a geophysical modeling application on the most powerful systems available anywhere. It can be the ability to rent a virtual server,load software on it, turn it on and off at will, or clone it ten times to meet a sudden workload demand. It can be storing and securing immense amounts of data that is accessible only by authorized applications and users. It can be supported by a cloud
provider that sets up a platform that includes the OS, Apache, a MySQL database,Perl, Python, and PHP with the ability to scale automatically in response to changing workloads. Cloud computing can be the ability to use applications on the Internet that store and protect data while providing a service — anything including email,sales force automation and tax preparation. It can be using a storage cloud to hold application, business, and personal data.
Its going to be strong enough to create another world of relaxed and may be cost effective work environment with time.

No doubt, cloud computing will be the next big thing and has the capability to change the dynamics of the business. It offers many features such as to be able to access data from anywhere, scalability and pay per use. Though there are some concerns about the dependencies upon third party for security and confidentiality of data and information,finding cost-efficient means through cloud hosting can be very beneficial.

e.g. Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud is a dedicated, high performance, analytic database cluster that is open to businesses, on a pay-per-use scale, for a monthly fee. This sounds like an excellent business deal, if you are prepared to hand over your personal data and information.

surely cloud computing.Actually mobile app already developed.but cloud computing is new in market and lots of scope for more  developing.Even in future we can find both tech work together for better move.

I think the evolution of mobile technology globally in general and in India in particular is the most outstanding advancement in the 21st century. In this field the newest advancement is the 3G concept which gives the entire multimedia applications like video streaming, high speed mobile broadband, internet access with the ability to view video footage on mobile handset, live TV, video calls in addition to the usual features available on a 2G handset.

Yes there are lot of components w.r.t. technology. No doubt cloud computing is one of them. but I think cloud computing is not very new. it's  some extent similar to distributed computer system or more specifically 'grid computer system' but with a touch of new concepts.

But the segment that is up & running with loads of upcoming surprises is the arena of Mobile Apps. The industry is yet to penetrate much. Large MNC's are not neglecting the output of this market. Apple AppStore is a huge success, n India Airtel already launched there own AppStore, Vodafone followed the step and Reliance is working out. It's not only the mobile apps,, mobile itself will bring lots of changes. Nokia N900 the first mobile with a linux platform (mameo 5) is an open source model, and already available in the market.

I'm assuming there will be a trmendous change on the display technology. Along with multi-touch technology there will be something that will change the total concept altogether.Pune's start-up Touch Magix is already in news for creating a device that can make any surface interactive. Microsoft's surface technology is known for 2 yrs now, but still not available at a large level. 6th sense computing by Mr. Pranab Mistry of MIT of Callifornia has started up with the storm of nano technology. so there are a hell lot of stuff.

A change in the display technology will incurred a change in power resources. K.R. Sridhar's Bloom Boxes are already in news. Fuel cell technology is not new (way back introduced by NASA for fueling Rockets in the universe), but making it in a consumer level is really appriciatable. Some biggies like Goole and FedEx are already using the same.

Hence it's not about the upcoming technologies, it's about us, we human and the acceptance level for the same. i hope there must be something that we'll be calling a green technology. we'll be more focused towards our environment to create a better planet not fill it up with e-waste.

I think Mobile Applications, Cloud computing, Nano technology are different categories and at one point all these technologies integrate with each other. I am sure Cloud Computing, Virtualization are emerging technologies in IT and they will lead for next few years.

The "Cell" microprocessor. A product of a joint venture between IBM, and Toshiba , this chip will power Sony's PlayStation 3 and high-definition TVs from Sony and Toshiba. The chip combines nine cores, a big leap from the two-core chips just being introduced by Intel  and Advanced Micro Devices to provide extremely fast rendering of computation-intensive graphics for uses that range from military displays to consumer electronics.Thts the happening buzz in technology.

In mobiles we have have gesture recognition,VR and next gen wireless as buzzes But cloud computing well Im a bit sceptical since its basics require opening up of personal data more than acceptable limits making its acceptability less favorable.

The sharing of end-user licenses and on-demand use may also reduce investment in server hardware or the shift of server use to SaaS suppliers of applications file services.

Using an SaaS can allow companies to bootstrap business necessities and reduce hiring costs (e.g. using onsip.com for a business telephone system rather than hiring an IT/systems specialist to install a phone system.)
