Focus on growth industries

idea posted by Nikhil Jain Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates
Picking an industry that is still growing or is predicted to grow during these difficult economic times increases your chances of landing a new job and decreases your chances of getting laid off again.

Its true that if we focus on midrange organisations, we will find growth in it and less chances of cost cutting lay offs.

Look for startups

Look out for start ups which are recruiting, because they want people who can work for them and can stay for longer and give you better growth opportunities.

Stop firing "Shotgun"

Many people still use the "shotgun" method for conducting a job search. They read the Sunday job ads; they submit a standard resume to as many job boards as they can find; they call on a few friends. Then they submit their standard resume to either a handful of opportunities each week, or they submit to dozens of jobs with the same resume as long as the position sounds remotely interesting.

come in for a slightly lower renumeration which the management would be happy to part off, then see the tide of recession pass off and then call off u'r shots and demand a good rise which the management would be happy to give coz u had supported them at a rough patch.

First of all be very positive and confident and show as if you are not even aware about the recession situation in India. Which is obviously not there. And try for jobs which involve less of risk taking as in the targets & stuff. Go in for jobs which promise good experience though lesser pays.
