At some point of time we're all called upon to be leaders like, if you have children, people reporting to you at work, friends who confide in you - leadership is required of you. You might not call it that, but that is what it is. Above all, we're called upon to lead our own lives. Yes, we're called upon to be leaders and few wish to shoulder the responsibility. Most normal people will look to someone else - if not for leadership, then for blame. It's the bankers' fault that my business is under pressure - it's politicians' fault that my standard of living has deteriorated - it's the system's fault that I didn't get promoted. Get up off your ass - start promoting yourself! Surely you're meant to take the lead in what is, after all, a lifetime for which you can write your own script. |

A leader is not only consider the target..they chose which is the suitable way to their team to achieve the goal.
Taking the lead, which includes everything, is the essence of leadership.The leader should be a role model for others to follow him. Thanks for the referral Ms.Disha roy.
A leader is the one who leads by his actions. He "showcases" (in other words teaches, both in words and actions) his experience for others to see and follow. He is the one who is able to manage and lead his life very well. In the process he creates other leaders.
A leader is the one whose Thoughts, Words and Actions are the same.
In fact, that is what the founder of Sikhism intended. That is why we call the followers "Sardar" which stands for leadership. Those persons who lead their life in a good manner and in the process help others lead their life in a good manner too is called "Sardar" or leaders. Remember, life has many vicissitudes that one has to overcome in order to be successful. And the idea is to over come all these difficulties with a happy and never say die attitude.

Leadership can't happen staying put in an Air-conditioned room sitting on a reclined chair passing orders, or in a Television Studios (that's what many of our modern leaders do) or dining and wining in five-star hotels or watching Cricketing Events getting the media glare! A leader should be like Mahatma Gandhi - "Dandi March" is a glaring example!

As Mr. Muralidharan said a true leader love to be in the midst of his followers and bold enough to take the lead.
Ofcourse, this has no meaning in the present day political leadership of the land. Leaders are being imposed. In our representative democracy people elect their representatives. These elected representatives have to prove their leadership qualities. Unfortunately, they are a failure till date. We cant call them leaders.
A leader in true sense of it leads from front.
Leader who leads the team from front to achieve the Org goals and backs is team
Leader is the one who motivates..drives..helps...understands....the fellow employees....to reach their organizational goals
I agree with motivation & dedication. Dedication makes person to excel in his/her field. It is the quality of leadership & important to motivate or encourage team to excel.

If one cannot consider oneself a servent of others one cannot lead them. Basically there are 4 types of leadership styles. 1. Leading by objectives 2. Leading by targets (almost similar to 1) 3. Leading by examples 4. decentralisation or delegation 5. Matrix organizations like Hi tech firms where teams work horizontaly. |

Leader is someone who stands on his/her decision(a strategical one) and if something goes again it he /she should show the courage to say that "yes i made them do it" and why i did it is, because of this.
But now a days what happens in corporate world is a leader will take a decision and most of the times based on his/her successful dealing with it in the past and in one off situation when it goes completely "kaput" he/she will start blaming the team who execute it and fight against them from different angles.
I would never call this leadership..
