Children should be taught about the dangers of going of Bio-datas in wrong hands. They should be taught about distinguishing between which sites to trust and which not to. They should be made aware of the necessities of doing enquiry about a site before working on it. |

i totally agree..awareness plays a very important role here.... children must be educated about the risk factors prevailing in the online site. The teachers in schools and colleges as well as parents at home must contribute a little time to see what their ward is dong on the net.If the children are made awre of the problems that can be faced online ,they will definately be more concious the next time they go online!
I agree with this idea and what amitesh said , the parents should develop a good communication between their children and should educate them about the risks in online and how to be safe while using it. I believe that no one other than their parents can make them understand about the risks involved in it.
Government has to add one subject called "infromation Security" or atleast one chapter for 8th,9th & 10th standards. Now the value of information is more than the value of gold.Every one has to keep pace with the new technologies and students has to understand the identity thefts, phishing etc and its consequences....

Online governing bodies should always keep a check on the authenticity of portals working onlines asking datas and should make sure whether they are seriously privatising the datas of the children. They should give them license to work online accordingly. Any portals found working online without license should be banned immediately... |

The only hitch is security -Exactly-. Remember if we can do transactions online; in a similar fashion keeping the security intact we can make the kids data safe by using Govt license authorization scheme which in turn will be in co-ordination with International body.
Also we can provide the login details only to parents/guardian so that whenever kids want to access net related to their age/interests they can only request Parents/Guardian.
As the kids oriented sites will be licensed on the net so the safety cover should be provided by Parents and Govt bodies.
Apart from the online governing bodies keeping a check on the accessibility of the sites, it is also very important on the part of parents to keep a check on their children and make them aware of the risks online keeping in mind their child's increasing age. It is becoming more essential nowadays to become friends with children right from their learning age so that they do not lose track and more importantly we do not lose track of them :)

|
There should be an online police groups which should always be supervising on all the communications going on in sites asking for users bio datas. Like Online governing bodies, they should also be active 24X7 and keep a track on authenticity of all the websites created online... |

this could be the suitable option so as awareness about online networking is the need of an hour. restricting children won't cease them to view restricted sites.
|
|
I believe it should be a combination of all the above, plus strict Data Protection legislation to ensure the proper checks & controls are in place. But we must not overlook our responsibility as parents to ensure our children are safe and are eductaed to be safe and respectful. |

Keep our family computer in an open location which helps us that our kid cant get privacy while they're using internet. So we can have leverage over our kids and we can monitor what are they doing and to who they chat with. Easy for us to monitor their web activities. Don't place the computer in a room with door. |

i do not agree with this since keeping the computer in an open location will still give the child the temptation to do something unappropriate.....the child can manage with his work since he knows that the parents are not monitoring him always.....so according to me small kids must be given the permission to use tne net under constant consideration of parents!.....and ofcourse...the software will always be welcomed!!
|
|
I thinks you can manage by installing those softwares which block & monitor unsuitable content. But things are not foolproof so guidance is the best way to help them decide whats good/bad for them. |

Children details can be fed in official school websites and school autorities can decide whether to pass the children details to private autorities, parties or organisations. This way the children´s data can be protected. |

this is often seen in some houses or places where seniors got their child a net connection and a laptop that is personally yours..that should be checked regularly.afterall, children between the ages of 12 to 18 are hackers...a child can be hacker if he is using net without limitations. |

Nice explanation Mr.Adhrendu. and a good topic Mr. Vipin. Yes internet is having a negative effect on our brain we tend to google everything and do not use our brain in any matter. Life is now dependent on Google and other search engines.. |
