The world may lose its taste for oil long before oil itself runs out, if the trend in the West becomes global. Demand for oil may well have peaked in the developed world, the International Energy Agency said on Thursday, postponing further any possible supply crunch. But emerging nations still want more, the IEA said.

There is a structural change — difficult to measure admittedly, but clear — that demand for burning fuels is no longer what it used to be.The trend towards better fuel economy for cars and other vehicles has been clear for some time and it is no surprise that developed economies are using less oil for power generation.

So, what opportunities does an economy with no or less oil has?? Share your opinion......

Emergence Of New Energy Sources

idea posted by Isha Verma Sales/BD Manager, Larsen & Toubro

An oil - less economy will motivate companies & scientists to come up with better & cheaper energy sources. These energy sources will be much more efficient & green in nature. Thus green energy will boom in an oil - less economy.

dear friends, nowadays, alternate fuel is essential need for the world....because using the oil as fuel, lots of waste harmful byproducts remains in the atmosphere, this pollution is also one of the main reason for Global Warming and we should to move towards the alternate fuel - clean fuel. Lots of researches are going in the everypart of world to found alternate resources just to maintain this world beauty and life on the earth.we must to move towards the alternate resourses if we really want to protect our world.

As of now , the world has not even started preparing for an oil-less situation. What is engaging every country is trying to reduce oil consumption , by developing alternative energy sources. So far this effort is only in the case of vehicles. What about industry ? I think nothing has been done.

At present , oil sources are still being discovered , the latest one being in the Gulf of Mexico. Countries are still complacent that the present oil reserves will serve our planet for another 50 to 250 years.

Imagining an oil-less economy is practically impossible , at least in India , because we have not seen a single area where an alternative has been adopted on a large scale.

The so called alternate energy sources has been kept undeveloped by the oil economies directly or indirectly. I think that India has made giant strides inwind power. We also need to look at self generation of solar power to cover for part of the energy used in each and every house. Even if we can cover the lighting load, it would be a huge savings.

Alternate energy sources is the one aspect that I think will go big time. Many educational institutions have now opted for battery powered cars on campus and solar street lights. Wish we had the ability to do more. Solar is still an expensive option for the common man,.

Greener Transportation

With no oil to run vehicles, companies have to come up with engines that will run on alternative sources or green energy. Thus this will have no or very less impact on the environment. Thus, there will be a complete transformation in the automobile sector.

It is a fact that another 100 years will suffice the existing fuel source.American has a reserve to meet with contingencies. It therefore, signals that 3rd world countries have to take the initiatives and encourage small time inventors. The world will turn green is short of aberration as green adds sobriety but  carbon shines.

Americans are working towards new sources of energy. The green concept is still many seas away. The earth's revenue which we call exploration will one day extinct. It is therefore high time that India go for tapping solar energy. In tapping the solar energy reflectors and storage are required. The existing arrangement being  very cumbersome needs further improvement so that it can located in a small place. This source of energy need harvesting vigorously.

Rising mismatch in supply & demand of oil coupled with environmental concerns is currently offering a good platform for directing our efforts in direction of pursuing a green economy and decreasing our dependence on oil. But the opportunity is being wasted as our R&D is still lagging in developing commercially viable green technologies. Whatever is there is in research labs or on pilot plant scale but nothing concrete has been done. Corporate world should take more active and responsible approach towards developing such techniques which is currently lagging. Corporate world needs to support such initiatives and instead of making attempts at individual level rather an unified attempt should be made. Government is allocating the funds for these initiatives but there has been no justice done to the public money being put into this. Research efforts need to have commercial objective as well rather than just academic interests and that is where corporate world has an important role to play and encourage the research efforts to get converted into a product for serving mankind.

It is the time to develop alternative sources of energy like solar power, wing energy renewable energy sources, which are very much required for a green economy and oil less country.
