What safety mesures should tourists take while travelling?

As we know that these day India is becoming unsafe for foreign tourists. Daily, we come across cases of different attacks on them. Recently, a Russian girl was raped by a local minister. Seeing all these cases, the government of Goa has instructed foreign tourists to follow 'code and instructions' for their security.

These kind of cases are not only prevalent in India, but occurs almost in all the countries. So, I would like to ask the users on the platform what should a tourist do while travelling to ensure safety? Kindly share your views.

Whenever a tourist is in a certain city, they should inform the local police station and the nearest Embessy about their current location and should always carry an emergency number to call police in case of any suddent attact.
