What should be the role of government in driving carbon emission reduction?

The solar energy application should be used in every sector.Encourage grow of Trees and   plantation. Control Industries from burning  products which create carbon and implement another process of destroying them so that carbon is not created   and  polution is ctrolled. 

They should ban factories emitting Green House Gas (GHG) emissions like Hydro Fluoro Carbon (HFC). Incentives should be provided to automobile manufacturers to develop and foster energy-efficient and zero emission vehicles. The companies that do not adhere to the emissions targets should pay carbon taxes based on the emissions.

There are many industries which emits lots of carbon and other pollutions in the air, the government should check such industries by not promoting, not licensing and things like banning the usage of some plastic materials, usage of thermal and solar power much in the industries which should be made compulsory and unconditional for keeping a time frame like at least next 25 years, i think the commitment to do some thing for the mother planet would surely create awareness!!

In today scenario of indian industries we are emitting the maximum amount of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Due to this there are several problems occuring like in some part of our country cold is very much high, other there are no cold even. etc.

Also the most important thing is that we THE HUMAN BEING does't understant our responsibilities for unnecessary waiting the fuels by burning them and making lot of evolution of harmful gases coming through combustion of fuels.

The government should keep eyes on the wastage of fuels an the traffic signals, governing the people not to waste the fuels while on traffic like government is secure about the helmet and all the safety purpose in the car for wearing seat belt.

Someone has mentioned this, perhaps in another discussion, however, it strikes me as something to be researched. Obviously, it is certain that autos must be re-vamped. Yet, what about industries and homes burning fossil fuels? Can't these emissions not be captured and re-cycled?

Oil is more abundant than most anyone imagines, we just need to find a way to utilize it that is helpful to our environment, rather than detrimental. I believe it is research well-worth funding even more so than, to the chagrin of many, to pour hundreds of billions of dollars into

finding another planet to live on when we have so much hunger, disease, emissions, etc. that are in dire need of a solution now.

There is need to focus on overall, holistic and larger & balanced growth of organization which serves its higher purpose of social, business, nature-ecological-environment and sustainable development which are more lasting, permanent and the roots grow more & more strong leading to more and more fruitful growth of the organization !

CEOs often give little importance to values and culture .... This is very true as most of my past 30 years of experience corroborates the same and here comes the challenge. Although, I have already tried in the past without much success, the values and culture, there is need to promote :

a) Excellent Performance culture

b) Creativity culture, which I found sadly & abysmally non-existent (and I suffered greatly because of the same)

c) Sustainable development culture which includes socio-cultural and environmental concerns and responsibilities

d) Quality & process concerns for better and better quality of products, Health, training, motivation, individually focused problem resolution of each working member of the organization including MD, chairman to helper worker. This will help in building trust and developing a culture of trusteeship, where every worker is trustee as well as part - owner ...

The solar and thermal power is ample and the foolish government of ours is not lending its ears till now, but i do not know why? if solar and thermal energies are properly utilised and main streamed, not only the carbon pollution but also other pollutions like noise, wastage can be minimised to the the greatest extent, at least now the government should do something regarding this, it is truly high time now?

Time has come that leave no stone unturned to stop carbon emission. No country should think of increasing thcaron emission. Even if required, carbon emission be allowed temporarily and simultaneous efforts to balance must go on.  Global Warming is not coming, it has already come and is here to remain. Quickly switch over to non conventional energy sources, ow ever costly that may be. We are not left with choices any more.

The most alarming factor of the country is carbon emissions from industry especially power plants. For India carbon capture is the only way to reduce carbon emissions. Govt. must order every power plants to incorporate carbon sequestration program. US and china - the big boss of carbon emissions is following this program. Hope India must also adopt this also.

The Main problem is  that when any industrial/ power  plant  exhaust smoke in the air the air gets poluted. So such process should be invented that all this exhaust which is thrown in the air should be able to dump in the very deep well like underground  of the earth so that it will keep the atmosphere clean   and I think all the carbon  deposited under the earth will increase the carbon percentage of soil and improve the fertility.   

Sops or warnings, Beg Steal or Borrow but if u wish to live tomrrow, bring down carbon emission. Human being has to show respect for mother nature and that can be done by lowering the carbon emission. Nature has its ways of mending the damages.and  Commercial minded scientists can never do any good toimprove the situation and the initiative must come from Media and people.

Oceans comprises 78% of the globe. Only the rest is land. In land too major deserts occupy sizable amount in area. In this context human living in relatively smaller area can NOT bring change in constituents of atmospheric gases. Carbon Emission is a trick by the developing nations to control the use of fossil fuel by the developing countries. It is a tactics.  BRIC nations should not fall prey to this tactics.

Nature has its own mechanism to adjust.  However only SEA can bring sea changes in the global warming and other climate change matters. GHG of course plays a role in warming a place by just reflecting back the OLR(Out going Long wave Radiation) back to earth.

Climate change, GHG induced disasters  can not be triggered by man made things and human actions.

The solar energy application should be increased in the best way possible for example All two wheelers/ four wheelers should be able to get charged  on solar energy in moving/non moving condition. For example suppose any two wheeler like motor bike laying idle and parked in open sunlight then there should be something fixed nearby speedometer    which can catch solar light and store it in a solar panel fixed on motorbike and at least during daytime it should be able to run on solar energy. Similarly in case of four wheeler there should be something like antenna which   contain solar energy cell and   can store ant run wheeler on solar energy at least  during day time when there is bright sunlight fortunatelly in our India it is available atl east for 11 months in a year. I think this will be able to reduce pollution considerable and will save the Petrol/ diesel/CNG consumption which is the bad need of the time.All Auto industries should think on this point.

.There should be such an arrangement that at least  during the day time when there is a bright sunlight all the domestic appliances like Fans. A.C. computers  etc should be able to run on solar energy .This will save power consumption considerable and in turn the carbon deposition in the air.
