SPARK IT 2010

Hello everyone....

The IT job market may be far from robust, yet some skills are in high demand. What skill sets are required for IT professionals (software programmers, web developers and Project Management Professionals) to take their career graph upwards in 2010? Do provide your suggestions?

Thanks....

Virtualization & Cloud Skills

idea posted by Aparna General Manager, CyberMedia India Ltd

In this era, many organizations are seeking to implement virtualization and cloud computing. With the cloud computing space now taking shape it's difficult for enterprises to find pros with substantial relevant experience. So virtualization & cloud computing will be an expected skill set  & down in few years, it could even be a standard skill set of all IT pros because it touches different aspects of IT....

I would completely agree with Aparna. I have seen a lot of trantion in projects around Datacenter virtualization and Could computing this year. Both the ides are not new. They are old wine in a new bottle. Both the concepts were tried earlier and failed. The only difference this time is that we now have powerful enough network to provide acceptable response time.

Cloud computing is an important and a must have skill for future IT Professionals as it enables availability of different services under a single roof. Even though it is costly to implement, but it solves most of the infrastructure problem which we face daily.

I think most of the recent inventions are happening on mobile phones these days, also with the mobile subscriptions on a rise all over the world, the smartphone segment is the one which is having a greater impact these days and Android will be the future where smartphones will be running on Android OS which  people who are having Android skills will be in a greater demand and with world's biggest companies like Google, Motorola and others working on it, surely others will follow and people having Android skills will be in greater demand.

I am writing this by considering not only IT sector but also for other sectors. The professions in IT required to learn new skills and technologies always, otherwise they are not in the field. Everybody should have an attitude to welcome the new innovations into their life to lead the better life. New technologies will provide better options and better way to represent the knowledge.

Open source skills

idea posted by Radhakrishna Marar Business Analyst, Oracle

Recently we are seeing IT co's seek out many candidates for Ruby on Rails, Python, PHP and other open source programming skills as the software sees more of a enterprise adoption.  As Open source software appeals to many in IT for its low or nonexistent entry price and mainly for its flexibility, and now that appeal is growing everywhere, according to IT talent experts, in 2010 IT companies will seek candidates with high-tech skills related to open source software.

The world will be automatic after few years .There will be some systems(like answering machines) designed with high technology. So XP home edition , Vista can replaced by some mainframe operating systems. So we have to grow our skills in such a way, linux like free os are easy to modify wth ourself, so everybody should focus on linux and unix now.

Open Industry Standards

idea posted by Sampath Kumar Kannan Sr. Developer, Aequor Technologies

The industry has not seen any upward growth since 2009. As c'fmed by leading company there has been no recruitment since 2009 and IT investements are already to the bare minimum. IT is expected to pick in 2010, but, until now it is not steady but still wavering.

So, IT professionals, should be always be ready for callous attitude from the non-supportive government and loads and loads of tons of lies and media exicitment and enactments from IT managers to keep their pockets and jobs safe.
