Friend it's not enough anymore to post a job vacancy on Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com, Craigslist.com. Employers are spammed with hundreds of resumes from unqualified applicants when they post on big boards. So the recruiters are moving towards social networking sites in search of best talent. What social networking application are you mostly likely to use in your recruiting efforts?

Linkedin recommended connections

idea posted by Diya Mehra Executive search, ABC consulting

I agree with you Mr. Nikil, but compared to facebook you will find more professional expert in linkedin. Since it is mostly used for knowledge sharing there is a better chance for recruiting than facebook. Here we can develop and expand a personal network of professionals to whom the employer or recruiter can send a request for a referral of a recommended candidate for a particular job opening. This will help you to get potential employees because he is referred by an expert in that field.

I support your viewpoint that Linkedin and Too step sites are better than facebook. Also there is another site named as Peerpower.com where you can find lot of recommendations of the person from his ex boss/collegaue/business partner.

Hi Thykalam, good points. Compared to other social networking sites Linkedin and Toostep are really doing good especially for the purpose of recruiting. Because here the users connected are professionals and they concentrate more on knowledge sharing and career development. So the scope of opportunities is more in these site compared to other's.

Good idea Diya.

Through Facebook and Toostep communities

idea posted by Nikhil Jain Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates

I will surely use websites like facebook and toostep for the recruiting process because it is more open compared to other social networking sites. It allows us to view the profile of the users. The best way to use it is to create a community of your company and start posting the job openings. I have seen many a time potential candidates applying for it. So this reduces the work of the recruiter and also help in cutting down the cost of recruiting.

Dear Nikhil,

I am agree with you but only for 50%.I think Toostep is definately useful to get right candidate, but that is not the

case for Facebook b'coz many of today's youngsters are not aware of Toostep.

So as per my opinion, you may get better candidate on Toostep than Facebook.

I also think that conventional method such as personal interview is the key to know the candidate in detail, because

you might be experienced that a candidate with bright accedemic record fail due to less confidence & on the other hand

a average candidate but with the right attitude & good energy level have a great success. It is my view because I have

experienced it in one of Pune's top most construction company.

INVOLVING PROFESSIONAL

1I WANT SUCH TYPE OF NETWORKING WHERE FULL PROFESSIONALS WILL INVOLVE THEMSELVES IN DIFFERENT SECTORS.THEY WILL SCRUTINAI THE C.V. AND IF THEY SATISFY THAT THE CANDIDATE IS CAPABLE ENOUGH THEN ONLY THEY WILL SEND MAIL TO THE CANDIDATE. OTHER THAN WE FIND THAT UNNECESSARY MAIL ARE COMING TO THE CANDIDATE ON WHICH THEY ARE NOT FIT FOR THAT POST AGAINST THERE RESUME SUBMITTED TO THE DIFFERENT WEBSITE FOR SERCHING JOBS.

Atanu your correct a social networking which involves professionals will be a effective site for recruiting. I a way what Mr. Malhotra said is true, Toostep is one such networking sites where professionals are engaged. And I think that is one of the best site which can be used for recruiting. :)

Use of Linkedin for the Resume Database

Job posting in one idea......But most of the time you get the crap resumes.  The better thing is do a search critriea and send mailers to them......Not 100% perfect at least 60% matching.  Or if you company can afford Linkedin Premium Services......I would advise you to use that......That is an alternate for the Jobsite.......

this is foolish one cannot be recruited by seeing the profiles from orkut or any other similiar sites as lot of fakes are there this will not minimize the problem but will increase misunderstanding which means loss of time as well as money.
