For most of the news channels there is no big news to air round the clock. So the programmes on these news channels mostly about the news pertaining to cinema related. Personal news about politicians, other celebrities has nothing to do for the common man. Development news shall be given utmost importance, but the things are otherwise.

Today everything is newsworthy. Right from Amitabhs stomach pain to Didi's autocracy to the Pg 3 drunk driver who mows down people in the middle of the night. Actually it all depends on each media's image and the audience it is catering to. A Chldrens TV channel can obviously not show gore and violence and so on. As long as stuff projected by the respective media doesnt hurt relogious sentiments or insults other people or incites the public to violence, i guess it is ok !

Too much crime reportage

The paper is full of morbid stories of death and destruction. The whole front page is full of crime, morbidity, and it makes us nauseus early in the morning. I think maybe the 10th or 13th page should be reserved for crime or really ghastly stores. There is hardly any good or classical reading, only stories that add to the tension and negativity.

It has been more of an appreciation by the readers on gossip mongers than any real worth. while valued opinion which make more of non-sense news value than any knowledge gathering, when it comes to news from these columns. It just has glamour with no brains at all. Secondly, it also proves beauty without brains over and above its been published, which is all the more irritating factor when the reader is looking for some value in the news article. I completely go by this to eliminate unnecessary Page 3 gossips which only puts disappointed feeling rather than cherish it.

Journalism is statement of facts. It is selection of subjects and expertise in summation that separates a successful journalist from the others. Such topics evoke reader interest and encourage debate. In today's world, many debating opportunities are available. For such debate and though process to occur, the subject chosen has to be open ended. It should encourage diverse views. I have not yet come across a TV channel which strictly is non-partisan. I grew with a diet of Hindu every day. Hindu did adopt such journalism earlier.

One by one, we all stop watching TV and reduce the reading & buying of newspapers & magazines. This will reduce the media's undue importance in our lives. I have already implemented this. I refuse to be programmed. :)
