At first do not think of the salary. Get relevant experience and move on. There surely will be takers if you have enough skills. |

Money is certainly not the Only parameter that governs someone's survival and well-being in the Corporate World. 1. How close you are to Home & Family, 2. How is the Living Standards in your current Location, 3. How well you GEL with your current workmates and stress-levels in your job 4. What is your FUTURE in the Company, 5. How comfortable you are with the CURRENT facilities, Infrastructure, Work Ethics and Governance, 6. How important is BRAND name to you (Apart from Google, ENY & few others, most BIG brands are poor pay-masters), and lastly, 6. How is your BOSS; all these matter! It can and will turn out that a Fatter Salary may also increase stress, work-hours, commute to office, living in a costlier city far from home and a stressed workplace with non employee-friendly policies. Also, we may think that we deserve X because someone gets Y (whom we think to be inferior and we're getting less than Y now; X > Y), but the Truth is, while negotiating, what were your odds? Once someone has factored in all these adversaries, then and then only can we decide, else we are essentially comparing Apples with something else! |

Let me assume that the one who's comparing (I'm referring as 'you' here )has the same capabilities in terms of attitude & intellect (may not be of skills) with the one's who has got a better job, as per his / her definition.
The reasons why you did not get the job:
1. You had less skills may be technical, communications or else.
2. You chose not to take it up for you had your own limitations or bindings
3. You feel you were unlucky and you were
In the current job what you are doing, you need to be dedicated to prove yourself for your next job. It may come as awards, promotions, salary hike or just a bunch of people who knows you are good at your job - they are your referrals for future.
You need to sharpen your skills that you lack, in a very fast manner, knowing that whom you will be competing with were of better skills and they are improving too.
Thirdly, find those binding and limitations which you can overcome or persuade others to help you out.
Lastly, luck follow the law of averages too, next time or next to next, your luck will favor you definitely.
Good Luck :-)

steady cash flow matters; we have needs. if the cash flow satisfies the expenses, then its about the savings and then career and finally the peace of mind (including those depending on you). If the job in hand is disrupting the balance of any of these (expense, savings, career, peace of mind), then look for a change. This - balance levels & the needs - is not same for all. Some have more needs and dreams. Some workaholics can tolerate chaotic family for the sake of career. Greedy ones will sacrifice other needs and relations for money. I would say look on savings and career first then the peace of mind - since job alone cannot bring peace. Try to be happy with what you have.

Salary is the one part of life which can be earn at any point of the life unless and until if there any personnel requirement.
The one who gain the knowledge and skills at the minimum time and someone there to appreciate his work is the true money.
2 or 3 or 5 years of experience is just the peanut. Talk to some one who have more then 10 years of experience. Raise & break all the bars and you will get it the MONEY at last, if you are sincere, honest, hard working, smart thinker !!! thanks for referring Kriti

Better a person should get experience first, because when that person had experience company will pay anything to get him/her on board....
"giving an option to either choose cash or experience, i would say take experience first, cash will automatically come later....

I think if one have good organisation and have a growth ladder and also management should be clear in their increment and promotion strategy then one should continue with that otherwise after getting experience one should leave the organisation.

Everything in the world is changing except the "change" itself. When you are underpaid there will be some overpaid. Change is needed for such economical imbalances also. To change the company and to add more skills and experience are inevitable for betterment for newcomers. But it is more critical if you have experience in lower cadre and want upward growth(specially in govt organisations & PSUs). Some organisations discourage growth opportunity for lower cadre employees, even if they are best performer. This scenario is not different from our national politics. For such employees, it is also difficult to switchover after acquiring higher qualification also.

For the freshers, I suggest them to try starting their jobs from small companies, gaining experience and information about most of the operative verticals in any business System, in the meantime assessing own potential, and finding niche in our own talent.
A person can remain Underpaid only when he/she is trying to cash the skills that are not his Niche.
