Talent crunch

idea posted by Kiran Kumar Reddy Business Analyst, SAP

The biggest challenge faced today by Indian IT sector is the HR crunch on talent and the lack of the requisite professional skill set. Out IT industry is facing problems because of this reason. If it is taken care off, industries won't face lack of talent and thus our whole IT sector will be stable and more strong to compete with similar industries around the world.

I think with the renewed talk of a double-dip recession in U.S,the global slowdown is the biggest challenge facing the I.T Industry. The world`s top banking/financial companies are a mere shadow of their former self many have become 1/2 or 1/3 in size.Just last week J.A.L announced bankruptcy, rest of the Airlines are also facing financial trouble. The international Automobile and manufacturing industry is in no better shape. As such I feel that the major Clientele for Indian I.T is in the midst of a major cash-crunch.Already many of the I.T contracts have gone to inexperienced Chinese Vendors because of clients trying to keep costs and margins down.       I believe the major challenge for Indian I.T Industry will be to significantly reduce margins in order to compete with the Chinese on costs.Otherwise it might end up permanently losing clients.    While the Chinese use this as a golden opportunity to build up capacity and expertise in this sector.

Well at the time of recession each of the point plays the major role:

1. Talent Crunch: without talent no new innovative ideas are there in mind which can make your production or sales going regular.

2. Global Slowdown: if it is slow down it makes the demand of the product less which directly effects the flow.

3. Utilisation of IT resources during Recession: During recession if all the resources are not used in good way it effects a lot. suppose SEO amployee is free from project he should be allocated in marketing of company in house projects.

4. Cashflow: it is the plays the major role due to which all the organization is on flow. If there is no cash or slow cash flow the work cannot be processed.
