These days, we can see that many employees falsely act that he is working but actually he is not. He does some other thing in the organisation which effects the productivity of the organisation... |

Thats also True !.........
It is true.Faking degrees and experience is quite rampant now a days.I read somewhere that the C.F.O of ENRON got his job on the basis of a fake degree.Such people have have no qualms about indulging in corrupt practices and fraud as was proved.
Employes faking work make unethitical practices. By making changes slowly one by one we can clear one by one.

More then gender, skin colour, religion the most common one is regional - My State my People attitude ♪♪♫ That's quite common in any corporates, specialy if it is India based company... Satayam was the example: if you 've last name "Raju" you don't even have to face interview its everywhere and you can't stop it..... their are way: like no referals'...etc etc..

I Agree too. The worst part is there is no HR practices to check this. Its a big problem when there is single line of management over the new matrix method.
May be !
an employee should have extreme E.I and turn a blind eye ...
at the end of the day if any body does anything refuse to get hurt ..
toughness pays buddy ....

Incidents of overstated earnings, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and improper use of confidential information is also morally unacceptable. |

Its very populer method, uncorrect resumes, skills, and non-accredited graduates even just had got in a week send by post from offshore unknown universities. Searcher says that at least %70-80 diplomas was given unethical way,non-accredited letters given in a week and met many fake MBA degrees.
There are lot of people who fake the credentials in the resume which is now featuring a lot particularly in the role of technologists where in people talk about a technology on the resume but when evaluated technically they don't come that strong .This also becomes a challenge for recruiters to present a right candidate.
Sure !

My personal experience says this : The seniors give on their assigned work to their immediate juniors or the new joinee(well capable of the experienced senior) and after they complete their work successfully, the overall credit of the work is taken by the senior. And the upper seniors feel the work is completely done by the assigned personnel. I Swear, this discourages the juniors and to greater extent reason for quiting the job too. .... Thank you, Manish N Cheers!! |

There are number of Unethical Practices in Corporate Sector. But the 1 which i think can effect a lot in employee - employer relationship is this 1. I totally support Mr. Manish. Because there comes the question of Self-Worth. And the outcome of this practice will be a quit from job.
My two relatives leaved their job coz of:-
1) This Reason.
2) Colour Bias
these acts are being done shamelessly and relentlessly throughout ay workplace, sad,no way we can ignore this.

After gradutation, they are educated in consultancy companies about 1-2 year, learn the rules of fakes then they placed managerial positions and work in cooperation with consultation companies that recruited them specially in Multinational companies. And when they finished their fake period usually migrate 3rd countries in NAmerica or Oceanias. |

Of course you do.Yes.Thanks for the clarification.India is really nice place.Hope we can be friends.
I did not signed specially India / Indians. I mean different people and nationalities and their methods..
Totally wrong AND ABSURD IDEA.You have been misguided on this sir.India has some of the world`s best technical collages producing the most talented and qualified individuals. The result is that Indians are sought after by companies the world over for their technological expertise and talent.Expirate Indian communities the world over are much more successful than the native Englishmen or Americans. No doubt some of them feel threatened that a more Talented Indian worker will take their jobs.

Ethics -is very subjective word. what one consider ethical may me unethical for other. ethical business practices in african country may be unethical in india. its is as simple as "Kiss" considered normal in europe and US films, some hypocrats consider unethical here. child labour is another issue we fall pray to western propoganda. in a country like ours- how these poor kids and family will get two square meal - vada pav- to be more precise. find solution to encourage " learn while earn " your kid studying in USA working part time in restaurant or mall is ethical and same people and some hypocrats human right activist find it unethical here. rashmi shah -HR consultant

Hi Rashmi, good points and examples.
Thanks for sharing...... :)
Yes, culture sensitive, but still each culture, country needs to have and work ethically. If you are justifying making children work for "vada pav", I think we've done lots to prevent that! Children get free meals a day and education if they go to school. How is any parent justified from denying his child that and asking him to "earn" for the family? The mentality is that 100 rupees earned is more than free food he can get for studying.

I would say the most prevailent is displaying favoratism among employees or sub ordinates and not recognising the true potential of everyone. |

Hi Sahana good idea I support you. This is one of the most commonly seen unethical practices in most of the corporates. This we can mostly see between the employees and employer. When an employee is more friendly with the employer he will do something in favor of the employee at times. Even though that employee may not be eligible for that.
Thanks.....
Have seen this a lot. Some people often become favourites through various means resulting high degree of dissatisfaction in other people. This is quite common in small firms and in some big firms.

In some medium corporates the Employers are not treating their Employees according to their designation whereby an Engineering or MBA Graduate is asked to do even a helper or a labour kind of a job which frustrates that employee and it is also a demotivating factor for him. Another kind of an unethical practice is getting the job more than a prescribed time. For eg. according to the company norms 8hrs is the normal work timings whereby some employers are sucking the employees blood by urging them to do the 3 days work in a single day at any cost. Another kind of an unethical practice is, not giving the salary in time even if the company is running in a profitable manner. |

How about salary terms in contracts (they are called contracts as per Indian law as far as I know) that include CTC - PPF contribution of employer, gratuity? How about not reporting/paying overtime, double shift compensation? How about forcing employees to resign when there is less business? How about not paying PPF deductions into PPF account monthly? How about paying salaries after 5th (law says must be paid by 5th of the month)? How about withholding pay (esp. final pay) by more than 30 days? How about computing pay for employees on 30 days basis (law says 22 or 26 days as per number of working days only)? |

I am completely agree with the settlement, still we people are shouting that we are growing rapidly, best industry in the global world. But the fact is in spite of very strong labor laws, still illegal labor practices are going on specially in the SME's, manufacturing companies. And the most important things, Govt has made the law, but there is no monitoring system, that whether they are strictly followed by industry or not. Surprisingly, the govt departments are supporting these illegal practices for their personal reasons. We cannot grow & work on global platform until & unless a standard will not be set, govt should create a department like vigilance etc to monitor these practices.

Referal method of head hunting was invented so that the company can avoid paying fees to the agents. Instead some compensation is paid to the Refree. This is often misused in the companies. The person referring talks to the recruitment team/HR to get his friend into the company without any major interview or processing. These people get to move across companies without being noticed as their resumes are never updated in the database(NSR might help). Reduces oppertunities for the other more capable people. |

The employees exit the company illegally without mentioning and especially the freshers who join leave the company just after training breaching the contract. |

Unethical practices includes low self esteemed employees, who try to impress the managers with personal involvement like assisting the managers families with day to day matters. Needless to say, many of my friends must have seen it happening in their corporate surroundings. Such low self esteemed employees try to degrade the self respect of sincere employees and the ultimate result is loss of productivity. On the other hand, management is unethical when it encourages such employees who acts as spys to management to gain their temperory personal benefits. On the other hand, lackof appreciation and recognition of employees performance from management is one of the most destructive unethical practices, i have ever experiences. This surely makes an employee discouraged and unproductive towards his work. Most of the unethical practices are intangible, like communication process between managment and the employees, groupism, racism, male and female differences. Lets have more perspectives from our friends. regards Mohammed

When an individual thinks himself greater/important than the Organisation the trend of unethical practices steps into the Organisation. This as per my experience starts from the higher level and stops way down below. We as humans are victims of this unethical practice because of emotions, attachments will our close ones which then lead us or I should say compel us to practice this. Thus if we think that We are because of the Organisation and not that the Organisation is because of us,i think this practice can stop. |

definitely, sadly this is the current trend being observed in individuals lately, individual's efforts are more directed towards greater pay packets, promotion rather than the org. upliftment.

one of the main concern in corporates is lack of trade union/associations and collective bargaining which impacts on the working environment and working conditions like over load of work, working over time, less provisions for either presenting or representing the labour/working class issues including the grievances with the management. thank you for referral |

Trade unions are the worst forms of opportunism and exploitation that ever existed.Trade union leaders know only one thing ....how to grab political power using the name of common man/oppressed workers. In West Bengal thousands of industrial units closed down because of this. What did the workers get?Poverty and unemployment. It appears good in academic discussions and high society discussions,in practice it is worse than hell. Please dont support these Maoists,THEY WILL RUIN THE COUNTRY!In China from where they get the funds for their nefarious activities,Trade unions are banned in most places.
I thought formation of the Human Resources department was an answer to the ineffciencies and losses due to Unions.

In recent past we all have experienced it, one of the common ill-practice is to change company policies once employed find out how to make most out of it or these change have been so frequent at time they have ruined complete culture of some corporates by effecting their iteration rate & stress level of employees. |

Generally,Unethical practices in corporates are commonly related to the topmanagment authorities who makes or breaks rules. Its been generally observed and studied by corporate consultants that when people leave the company, they actually leave their manager. This is one of the simple example of the effect of some of the some of the unethical practices being practiced. Racism, favouritism, egoistic attitudes, misuse of facilities, inhuman practices are some of the fundamental unethical practices which, if continued long takes companies upto the extent of results experienced by Satyam or any other group which is going to be in disaster soon I focussed on some fundamental issues, and I would like to have more broad perspectives from our other friends too.. thanks regards Mohammed
