Companies with promising technologies are introducing their innovative products in the Indian market & are really getting a very good response. Similar is the case with the internet usage market in India. As India is taking the next big leap in its technological areas it wants its people to also avail the same benefits..

Initiative by companies

idea posted by Sonal Singh Project Manager, Nortel Networks

Companies that are aware of these types of services or those who have a good knowledge about it can come down & offer their services at the best price that is affordable by the people of India. Companies should take a initiative & introduce the best broadband technologies at the best competitive prices in the market.

It will be a combination of both. Secondly, the medium needs to be changed from Copper to Fiber.

Besides big companies, small and medium enterreneurs will fuel the growth.

There is a need to reduce cost and major MNC's in the area have to relook the price strategy. In India, where per capita return from consumers is much low, timely RoI will largely depend on initial cost. Various service providers will have to come on a single platform.

reduction in bandwidth and infrastructure cost

idea posted by shad Marcom Head - North India, Dish TV India Limited

Common man who is using the broadband has now understood the benefits of using a broadband connection over dial up.

most of the VAS and internet content developers are completely relying on improved infrastructure and higher penetration of broadband internet to sell their produts and services.

However the bandwith cost which ISPs have to incur to buy the pipes is still very high compared to cost in other developed countries. Which the goverment has to bring down to promote more and more ISPs to increase their penetration.

Secondly, the infratructure cost, delay in goverment regulations and permissions drastically slow down the whole process to push the broadband penetration.

Market Dynamics

Market Dynamics would decide the fate of Broadband penetration and its services' uptake.

I think once "True Need of Broadband" is realized (which is a function of many parameters), it would only be a matter of time.
