Todays professionals are not responsible because of the growth in the organization structure. Earlier the number of division will be less and they had lot of responsibility but today the hierarchy has grown and the responsibilities has come down. Since he is given only a portion of work he does it for name sake without knowing its impact. So they should be more responsible, whatever may be the work given. |

I am agree with your point mam...I also feel today IT sector is growing very fast and for the fullfillment of client's requirement in a minimum possible time and in an economical way companies are having competition and for that they are hiring people even for a small piece of work on the contrary in earlier times single person had too much responsibility...
There are a lot of things that can be said about the professionals of today. Professionalism can be recognized in the way business owners treat their customers and colleagues. Many professionals that own a business need more training & development. How you operate a business can really tell how much of a professional you are. For professional employees, some of them don’t get the help and support that they need from their managers. Many of them don’t know how to really be a professional in the working environment. Many professional employees want more respect from upper management & better working environments. Many employers of today are now expecting more efficient work from their employees. There should be respect on both ends, from management and employees. The list could go on & on. Many professionals should know that professionalism is a way of doing business. Many professionals of today need more development. They need to know & understand what it really means to be a professional.
Well, Id lke to share my views on this. The most important thing that Professionals lack is trust and support.
When you cannot trust your companion or manager or hr to ever stand up for you - you lack all the above ideas described. The zeal to do anything better is drowned.
If HR manages to take the time to understand their employees and managers support ideas by the professional you will see a change in work environment.
We talk about stress and how work is affecting us. In my pov, its the stress that we cannot trust or have any one by us .. cause everybody wants our paycheck. If a clarity and a set rules is followed even competion can be enjoyed.

Patience is the main thing that today's professionals lack. Everyone wants fast track careers, success ,great achievements, fortune in short time. All the other attributes are outcome of this type of mentality. Competition now not a mere competition, it has become life and death game. No one wants other person to move up the ladder & progress. This creates a vicious circle where in everyone is looking out for opportunities to take advantage of others and step over him to move further. All this leads to more stress, more illicit thinking and the demeanor had become bad to worse. People are slowly forgetting compassion, empathy for fellow beings and are becoming more self centric. Hope this gets better someday :-). Hope they be more patient and develop a mentality of live and let others live peacefully!! |

Yes, they are in little bit of hurry in everything.
Yes patiences is onething which all professionals of all profession is lacking. None of us are patient to know things deeper, we just need to grow in career ladder. everyone is thinking that we must be a project manager or band D in five years of career. To achieve that we jump companies.

Was the purpose of education solely to make money? If Ethics, Can they evaporate at first obstacle and forever in self-interests. Stating, "I am awful short of time" to family, friends and anyone in need, is the worst statement a professional can make. This solely implies the person failed to learn time management or value response.

Good observation. I don't think it was there from the begining of times for this nation profesionals, capitalists or politicians.

WE are seriously lacking the maturity of being a professional. We need people to command us to do things. We don't have that maturity of saying completed the task whats next and also we don't have courage to say "No". We try to please our superiors so that they can be happy and we are not even trying to say whats best for the task/project/product or whatever.
Maturity of following ethics (be it anything) is seriously lacking. we need things to be worked out in our way. |

The basic intent and meaning of being a professional itself is lost. There is a software engineering code of ethics that can be googled and it perfectly describes the attributes of a software engineer and I believe it also describes the attitude of all professionals.

Most of the professionals are very selfish and are looking at possibilities for their growth, little realising that without the growth of the organisation, their growth is constrained. The keep jumping from job to job even for small benefits. Most professionals do not spend enough time for increasing their knowledge in a particular area but are more interested in adding qualifications with have only value on their CV. |

People are missing this big time, if they think that its their own company and they are using resources from pocket and there should be right utilization of everything they do and use. if they treat Co loss as thier loss. They should feel a sense of belongingness and they shown own their ACTS. Focus on results -Not the hours |

Lacking any sense of empathy, people inside companies struggle to make intuitive decisions and often get fooled into believing they understand their business if they have quantitative research to rely upon. The challenge facing business today isn’t a lack of innovation, it’s lack of empathy. The problem is that different disciplines, like marketing, finance, software development, etc. are all driven by different cultures. They speak different languages and have deeply rooted ideas about what good work is. And these cultures start to be formed when people are still in school. Engineers, designers, accountants, marketers all get acculturated to their professions’ value systems in school, and it gets reinforced by the largely functional nature of organizational design. The disciplines’ cultures are further reinforced by the kinds of people who are naturally attracted to each profession – people get attracted to different fields because their personalities and world views are compatible with the existing or perceived culture of that profession. Look at people who enter engineering school – they’re qualitatively different than people who go to design school. The need is to empathize with the way other departments thought, acted and worked. |
