I think change will be more effective, when people are involved in change, working best in organizations that traditionally value each employee and respect their potential contribution. Change management and change as easier in organizations that have a norm of frequent, honest communication.

Yes Ms.Darshana, the change will be more effective when there is enthusiastic involvement by people involved. In case the organization wants to bring any changes that should be communicated from top to bottom to convince all concerned in order to get everybody's consent to reach a consensus in total.There are always people who are resistant to change.

However tough it is but we still run the last extra mile..provided we see out target approaching...I believe change should quantitative, incremental and of course justified.For example: You more often see managers yelling..If we make good products our company will succeed !Instead if he says :

1.Quantitative:If we change following specifications of product we are expecting to increase in our sales by 5%.

2. Incremental: We should aim at changing one specification per month and watch our customer perception as well sales figure and monitor the outcome of change

3.Justified :After seeing a drop in sales figure in last quarter we ave collected responses from our customer base and these are the specification which they would like to have in our product.

I feel this would give more confidence to is subordinate to face the change.

Bringing change requires a process and thus it can be effective when it is accepted, acceptance is the stepping stone it is only after that u adopt or implement any change.

change cannot happen if the leadership sanctions change but distances from it at the stage of conceptualisation or implementation - mere beurocratic sanction is not enough. the leader must live and demonstrate the change with an eye on the change in all strategic decisions and strategic communications. at the same time the leadership team must collectively own the change without any underlying differences of opinion or airing them in public or private, and demonstrate collective comittment while driving and implementing change cascading the change down the line and facilitating the change slowly but surely in a time bound manner weeding out the bottlenecks consistently - while educating and training people, making policy and system changes, providing the infrastucture, etc making the benefits of change visible and making change enjoyable without any lurking doubts while relieving the pains of change both psychological and physical through coaching and mentorship and continuous interaction and communications and managing by wandering about facilitating change at ground zero. Mr Krishnamurthy of SAIL during the turnaround years is said to have interacted with 1500 executives personally in those days. this involves facilitating participation in change and collective ownership through visionary leadership through shared values and shared mission with a winning formula. humble regards/kshantaram

when the employees are comfortable in adopting the change. Find it refreshing and something new to learn...ofcourse its not welcoming by all...more the old obsolete employees who have attained saturation in learning curve fall in this category...this justifies freshers induction too...

Thanks ,Darshana for referral.The change is needed when new technology and machinery are introduced.Either ask the employees to submit VRS or train them for new technology.In my view second option is better and best option as it will over the effected employees and earn their loyalties.The Organizations need loyal workers for sustenance.
