According to me, the government should incentivise R&D (research and development),in the biotechnology sector by providing a tax holiday for five years on any new product developed in-house which should be extended to all biotech products spanning biogenerics, diagnostics, industrial and biotech seeds. The Micro-credit institutions can be roped in to deliver health insurance. With small contribution from each family and the government chipping in the rest, affordable healthcare can become a reality for even the rural poor. |

well i feel if something is to be done then it better start at the grass root level itself. researchers i.e young students should be given more incentives right from their undergraduate years especially in this country where a mere 12th standard student earns three times more than a post graduate pursuing research. more awareness should be generated by biotech companies esp in schools so that young minds are enticed towards taking up biotech as a career option
R&D is Critical for Bio space. Plant genomics,Industrial are key areas where a lot could be done.
should have as many patents as possible and this is very highly competitive sector and we are lagging but still could catch up like IT, Policy support is Critical for RD.
Common platform where Industry/Educational Institutions/Policy makers/Funding agencies should collaborate to narrow on critical/ achievable short term targets and long term objectives.
aS MENTIONED IN THE ABOVE ARGUEMENT,INVESTMENT SHOULD BE DONE IN PROVIDING INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ASPIRING RESEARCHERS. THIS CAN BE DONE FROM HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION AND CAN BE CARRIED OUT TILL A STABLE MARKET VALUE FOR INDIAN BIO-PRODUCTS IS ACHEIVED.

today we have reached a stage where the pharma companies are producing very few molecules per year. Also the molecules produced are not having significant improvement over the existing ones. The cost of reasearch has also grown exorbitantly. So all in all we need to develop promising molecules .This can be done through biotechnology. But we have to start from the fringes so that if these r related to serious drug reactions we got to stop making them.In biotechnology we have been very successful in GMseeds. In the non-edible space like cotton we have seen stupendous success. The production of cotton improved significantly with these seeds. Now we r trying them for edible items like brinjal. So similarly this potential of biotechnology can b extended to human beings. But long term studies should be awaited before we fully accept them.In terms of investment ,definitely lots of investment should be made both for agro-biotech research so as to make india a self reliant in agricultural produce. Also we have to move with the world hence biotech companies like biocon, panacea and mnc like roche are to be encouraged. We being the country with most cost effective research is avilable, can go great height if we coin from our soil some blockbuster molecules like avasten and hercepten. |

We boast of many R&D centers,PhD's every year. But How good is the research quality..? How many PhD projects have commercial viability..? We are doing just basic research, but no applied research. Scientists should work along doctors/experts of a field to improve biotech role.
Biotechnology is a field in which most of the things are finding thier way to a prosperous future and most of the things are yet to be taken care of.. there is lot more to know regarding this field, and of course biotechnology is not only the future of india but whole the set of living beings.. the investments in this field should be done in health sector which includes food industry, benefits from microbes, role of genes in diseases and other body processes their betterment and cures genetically, therapies highlighting role of natural ways , drugs discovery and many more all in human and health factor.... although health naturally is most required but even in other areas biotechnology has great role to play which can lead to prosperity and prosperity.......
The Biotech industry is growing rapidly with no doubt but this can be more magnified if run by right strategies by the right persons. The factor of not developing new molecules laid in an old conceptual and perceiving tendencies of copy and pasting of the pre existed matter to the new one i.e its the tendency not to develop & work for new one but to steal from already developed by others. It is needed that company should find eligible candidates for various posts inspite of keeping the one with less knowledge as a measure of cost cutting strategies. I personally feels that B.tech (biotech) are not preferred over B.Sc or M.Sc by various companies. This policy could be fatal for biotechnology future of india.

In my opininion investment should be done in companies and laboratories to provide them with more chemicals and equipments so that they can accomodate more number of motivated youngsters who can really put forth their full caliber and knowledge for the development of the field.More people implies more knowledge and this may provide a bloom in the bio tech sector and in turn also motivate students to be employed into the field .More employment also attracts students and this may improve the scientific and technological development of the country. |

Investment in Biotech should happen in providing more job opportunities to youngesters and in my opinion the following are required:
- Investement in infrastructure development for contract manufacturing and this will start generating funds for the organization.
- Simultaneously `Process Improvement' R & D should also be developed to `cut-down' the production cost of the product
- Once the `Cash-flow' is positive then basic R & D needs to be established to develop `Non-infringing' process flow for bio-pharmaceuticals or any other fermentation based APIs.
- In my opinion, private industries should not think of basic research in Biotechnology because of uncertainity of products and it is very expensive.
- If new molecules are developed with minimal investments with data on animal toxicity or phase-I clinical trials, it is better to sell the molecules rather than developing it further. It is because of obivious reasons!!!
In my opinion for our country, the biotech investments should go to contract manufacturing, loan-licensing for various products.

b cos towday in india we r see maney seed compo. sel low grade product as they in advertiesment and seed sector or technology is 20th sentury we r in 21st sentury so i think is nessesary towday some chang in agricultural sector is nessesary .

There are many unknown secrets hidden in rural india. the medicine of rural india is amazing (for instance, luke warm tender coconut water + honey works far far better than any medicine for soar throat). Before any forigners patent the indian medicine system, biotech sector should capture these. |

INVESTMENT MUST BE at implementation part of research outcome at ground level even though of so many research and development .. it must not only at lab or research level it must be applied and technology must be transferred and implemented so that it will show its outcome at large scale... |
