Maruti Alto would go on and on even if there is a recession.The reason is very clear.Its cost,fuel efficiency and maintenance as well.The next best contestants are Chevrolet Spark, Suzuki A-Star(Citroen C1) but only till Nano is launched.I think higher segment car buyers can make a stop gap arrangement for about 2 to three years by purchasing these cars.But Tata Nano is all set to kill the small car market as Maruti-800 is dying its own death from past 4 to 5 years with poor sales figures. |

since we get everything as same as maruti 800 what is the need to spend more money definitely I will go for nano. the same is the thinking of millions and so the maruti 800 will go out of market

I agree with Khaana that Maruti 800 will go on in this recession, but once the tata Nano is out - TATA NANO will be having a monopoly ( price) over other manufactures because of it price. 1lakh car ( the new people's car from TATA) |

Looking at the overall performance of THE CAR Maruti 800 will go on and on there is no recession for this car. Look at the mileage or maintenance cost it much better and economical in all aspects, can be repaired at roadside garage. But that is not an issue as it keeps running even if the engine is in worst condition. Compared to other variants even if they look within the same price range still the maintence cost is on the higher side. It comes with a basic engine just clean the plugs adjest the Delco, clean the spark plugs and it runs. the cost for this? less than Rs. 200 compared to those MPFI engines. |

With due respect to Mr. Bhaskar, Hyundai motors. it has to be proved that you'll get the same comfort of a family car MARUTI in NANO, cost effectiveness and driving long distances, if you term NANO as a city car then Maruti is a Economical Multi Purpose Car (EMPC). Well only time'll prove Nano may take over the small car segment , but how about EMPC?

Maruti 800 still being the affordable car(people's car) as it is price lower than any other car ( since TATA NANO is not yet out, otherwise that would have been ). I go for MAruti 800 |
