I am in a big dilemma lately With so many compacts vying for space in your garage, But, the big question Which one should you fall for.

Small cars, hatchbacks, compacts... call them what you may, these are the ones that rule the roost in the Indian auto market. From an era of graduating from the Maruti 800 to the Hyundai Santro, the year 2010 has increased the spectrum of choices, not just from these Jap auto moguls but also, to the ferocious American rides and the ever-dependent German delights.

So today there are many new compact hatchbacks, launched within this year, which are trying to wrest the market space from the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i10 etc. These are not upgrades or new variants for existing models, but spanking new models launched this year. They are Chevrolet Beat, Nissan Micra, Ford Figo, & Wolkswagen Polo....

As I am also in the Dilemma of which is the best to go for, would like the professionals to help me out who have more knowledge about cars...So, which is the best small car to go for among these?? Please do share your views on this....

Wolkswagen polo

idea posted by Mridula Maity Product Development Manager, Rugel

I think Wolkswagen  Polo looks good than anyother car at the moment, interms of design, stability and strength; the car looks awesome, Volkswagen polo is accessible with six variants three in petrol and three in diesel. All variants of Volkswagen Polo is priced in the range of Rs 4 to 7 lacs, according to the company official. For luxury cars, Volkswagen is well known but in India, the company is now focussing on hatchback segment. Due to Volkswagen Polo’s stylish look, performance, advanced features, which are available at low price tag, it got huge popularity at European market. So, they are trying to  imitate the same in India also where small cars rule the roost. And also it is most fuel efficient and lowest emitting five-seater diesel in the world at the moment....

It is definately Hyundai i20 but Nano is also one of the best options but it not able to create it's brand value and commitement so it fail if you looking only best small car then Nano is best and if you looking with best sales, value and demand then i20 is best.

Well, if you are focusing on price & mileage and compromising on safety, space and driving pleasure, then Nano is the best choice, But i dont hink SAFETY is the section which should be compromised other than anything else

I drive a Skoda, so have obvious reasons to support it. The sheer pleasure of drive and the bulk of the vehicle gives u a confidence to take any road. Its more of a SUV than a hatch. Okay.. and its not new !!!

All the cars have the Plus and minus points. you have to decided what is your requirement. Maruthi has reached the level of ambassador for spare parts and maintenance. at every street and corner you will find a workshop with mechanics who know how to repair the car.

If Money is not a concern & you want Style;Luxury;Performance;Reliability;Comfort & Space, then go for a HONDA JAZZ.If u want Safety;Good looks & Low running costs then VW-POLO is the right choice(But Service costs would be High as its a GERMAN car).If you have Light on Pocket Attitude then HYUNDAI i20 is the car.

Honestly I am admirer of Ford vehicles as we have 2 Ikons & 1 Fiesta all 3 are Diesel Run. In my opinion you can ask for inputs from the users of the following 3 vehicles. Nissan - Micra Honda - Jazz Chevrolet - Beat I received positive feedbacks about Honda Jazz from some of my friends.

Prefer petrol versions for good pickupand smooth drive. Take a long test drive for the cars in your mind and bettertake your own decision when you get the feel of the car. Listen to your heart after takingtestdrive and you would never regret for thedecision you made.

suggestion

idea posted by Chris C MMS Student, Mumbai University

VW polo is in a diffrnt category than u pickd out of the four..

if ur choice is Polo then i wud suggest the car in that brzcket wud be Hyundai i20 witout a doubt due to sheer drivin pleasure, gr8 and responsive engine, spacious, high on mileage (diesel), with a lot of safety features.

now gettin back to the other three options all three hav a similar mileage (expect the ford figo wit a bit less)...so you wud hav to go for eithr of them based on other specs...

Nissan Micra latest launch gr8 features includin keyless entry.

Chevy Beat awesome 2 door coupe luk...gr8 in steerin for city traffic...80 Bhp highest among the three for petrol..

Ford Figo has a diesel variant wich is a very good optin if ur into a diesel.

My suggestion wud be Chevy Beat due to wider netwrk of service centre, aggresive luks, justifiable price of gr8 features, gud on mileage.

PROCESS OF SELECTION

idea posted by AJAY GOKHALE DY GENERAL MANAGER MATERIALS, FINOLEX INDUSTRIES LTD.

FIRST OF ALL YOU FIX UP THE SELECTION CRITERIA LIKE PRICE BAND, MILEAGE, SERVICE CENTERS AVAILABILITY, POSSIBLE COST OF SPARES, DIESEL OR PETROL, DO THEY HAVE MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN INDIA ETC. SO YOU CAN SHORT THE LIST & THEN SELECT THE BEST CAR & BE HAPPY FOR 2-3 YEARS.

BEST OF LUCK
