Well no doubt Future Group lead Big bazaar along with all bazaars like food bazaar etc are the best retail chains in India. You get each and every thing there and that too at a reasonable price.

BIGGGGGGGG bazar is no. 1 player in Indian market they have followed Walmart(USA player)business pattern and put into Indian market but their management is very appreciated
the point from which we can decide the best retailer is the Total Trading area and the per sft margin... as of now it is Big Bazaar who stand apart...an then players like Spencers.... More... are coming up... wherien plan of reliance to invest 2500 crore.. is way ahead....
spencers is growing watch out for it

It can not be commented without spacific parameter. Every retailer has edge in various aspect but not in all.

Retail chains itself as a business idea has just taken off in india (say over the last 10 yrs or so). I am yet to come across a single one that can be termed as the best. Each of the names you have mentioned lack it in one area over the other. Remember when we talk about the best retail chain, it has to be a sum of all experiences - good products, reasonable price, good location, choice, accessibility, billing counters, shopping experience etc. None of the indian retail chains today can lay a calim to all this. Especially Subiksha. People who even call it a retail chain should have their heads examined.
At best Subiksha is a general provision store with nationwide branches. It is like how Air Deccan was in the aviation sector if you could put up with illiterate crew, missed flights, long waits, bad announcements etc.
One has to experience the likes of Carrefour abroad to call a store good retail chain. Whatever i have said above - Carrefour has it in abundance.
So in my opinion none of the retail chains in india can qualify for the title of best as they have a long way to go in the retail experience
It Cannot be Concluded as The retail Sector is Large and there and different types of Retails in India moreover the motive and the parameters of each other are different from each one of them.
Its a wide discussion, can not be concluded so lightly, Parameters like Format, Floor Size, Presence matters alot in bench marking the best retailer

It is quite difficult to analaysis and say which is the best retails chain, in your list u have subhiksha biz bazzar & others, every retailer has his own visual to sastify cumstomer, example, subhisksha is an discounted format which he feels to give an value for money on products by giving discount on articles or skus, big bazzar is sami hyper formart which attracts more sscb & b+ profile of customers which is mass profile customers in India SPAR were i'm working is Hyper market which give us wide range of skus (products & international shoppoing exprience, ),

Though there are more Big-bazaar outlets, I love to shop in SPAR. I really impressed with the quality, range, replenishments and displays in SPAR. Other retailer I love to shop is Tata's Star bazaar. I see the improvements after they tie-up with Tesco.
This is right that subhikhsa is the largest retail outlet chain with discount. But there are some financial error are making this chain d-grow.

When it comes to best quality at cheapest possible prices, I would take the name of Subhiksha, so according to me it is the best.

Yes, its true, some finances problems are going in Subhiksha but no doubt after some time it wil be shortout and subhiksha wil be best.
yes, it is true that in subhiksha their is some fund problems. but, according to my expirience in subhiksha. it's the best retail outlet. it's provide direct offers in the terms of cash discount on each & every product purchase. i am sure when Subhiksha come out from these crises it will be a unbeatable retail chain in india...

It does not really help in ranking so, is what I feel.Even with best Industry benchmarks, mature market scenarios, we are seeing now the slide down race of banking financial chains of none other than USA & Europe. Indian Retail has the enormous potential of un-shackling the agri-based sectors of the ultra rural areas, (which are now exploited to the hilt by the local establishments). Only when the big muscle of the currently existing middlemen, is broken, and when small time agri-producers, get the real value for their produce, the real potential of Indian Retail is going to be demonstrated. It will be that organisation, which can bring these produces to the mass market / retail market, with the lowest cost of backend operation per UoM, within the shortest time-to-market, who will be the ultimate winner of the Indian Retail Scenario - it can be anybody, even could be an organization, which is not yet operational and not in good shape, irrespective of the retail format they are into...This unshackling will tremendously increase the retail market size, sales per SFT, buying potential of each and every individual, savings and profit potential of every single smallest stake holder of the reatil market - even the newspaper insert executing person will be positively affected by this paradigm shift of horizons |

They are most dynamic and vibrant group in the indian retail scenen today. They might not be making the numbers, but they sure are good and progressive what with the chairman himself asking his heirs to hand over succession to professionals.
