Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel was the best choice, but Mahatma Gandhi superseded the Election Results & imposed Nehru on us. Nehru converted democracy into Dynastic / family rule, the most unfortunate........for all of us till today In 1930, Mahatma Gandhi prevented Netaji Subhas Bose to become President of Congress Party. What does it prove ???? Even Mahatma Gandhi was not a Democratic Person or may be he had some illicit relations / commitments with Mr Nehru

A man with thorough wisdom and honesty exactly knew what he was doing. His slogal, "Jai Javan and Jai Kissan" resonated everywhere! Unfortunately he had to meet the end in Tashkant which is still a mystery, Government is yet to come out clean!

When he took charge of the PM the economic situation of the country was in a tumbling situation. He took a bold step and introduced LPG programme. He brought Mr. Manmohan Singh into lime light and made him as Finance Minister. He could able to completely wiped out the Khalistan movement in Punjab. His political tool there was Mr. Biant Singh, the then Chief Minister. He set right many such issues. Since he is a "Karma Yogi", he never tried to promote him as other political leaders do. His services are numerous but went unnoticed. But for his efforts on all fronts, India would have not been in the race for super power today. I salute him. |

Nehru had a clear vision of where India should be within the next 50 years. He also developed the necessary infrastructure and planning required to achieve those goals. Whether the vision was the ideal one is debatable. Having the vision is primary. He did not bother about his popularity, etc.

I think Shri Atalji because i'm seen his NDA Government activities and other side Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri is also good PM. Shastriji says " Jay Jawan - Jai Kisan" and after that this slogan are modified Shri Atalji he says " Jai Jawan - Jai Kisan - Jai Vigyan".... So no Comparison between two Good person.

Their are two most important qualities a leader must have:
Moral Authority
Formal Authority
Moral Authority comes first, it is a reflection of the character and integrity of a leader due to which people respect an individual whether they are in a position of authority or not.
Formal Authority comes next i.e. when an individual is given a position of authority then apart character and integrity a leader must show competency to be able to deliver the goods.
No one succeeded in showing both the qualities as much as Lal Bahadur Shastri.
A lack in any of these two authorities can be detrimental to a leader and his organization/nation.
Manmohan Singh may have shown integrity before becoming Prime Minister but after becoming prime minister seriously lacks competency and at his level mere accepting failure or finding an excuse such as coalition obligations cannot justify his failures.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the smartest of the lot.Had he allowed Jinnah to be PM for Jinnah had only a few days left of his cancer, there would have been no Pakistan. Nizams of Hyderabad also was reluctant to join the Indian union at the first place, who later joined on persuasion of Sardar Patel. Surely he would have worked out something had Pandit Nehru given him a chance. Instead of MtBatten I feel Nehru created Pakistan.......
